Christopher Lennertz has officially signed on to score Marvel Television’s upcoming series Agent Carter. The show is created by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Chronicles of Narnia) and stars Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray. The drama is set in 1946 and follows Peggy Carter as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad and must balance doing administrative work for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) and going on secret missions for Howard Stark. The series is based on the Marvel One-Shot short film of the same title, for which Lennertz has composed the music in 2013. Marvel’s Kevin Feige (The Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor) is executive producing the project with Markus & McFeely, Tara Butters & Michele Fazekas (Resurrection, Reaper), Louis D’Esposito and Jeph Loeb. Brian Tyler Creates New Music for ESPN’s NFL Studio Shows

Brian Tyler has composed new theme music for ESPN’s NFL studio shows. The composer has written four original scores for ESPN-show-specific scores for three of the network’s NFL programs: Sunday NFL Countdown, NFL Live and NFL Insiders, as well as a general NFL Gridiron theme. The network has announced that Tyler’s music will be used within the respective shows and others, coming in and out of commercial breaks, in teases and as background music during highlight packages. Tyler’s work marks the first new original score for ESPN’s NFL shows since 1997. The composer’s music will debut on the season-opening edition of ESPN’s three-hour Sunday NFL Countdown pregame show on September 7. Read the rest of this entry »
James Horner Scoring Jean-Jacques Annaud’s ‘Wolf Totem’

James Horner is currently scoring the upcoming adventure drama Wolf Totem. The project marks the fourth collaboration between the composer and director Jean-Jacques Annaud. They have previously worked together on the features The Name of the Rose, Enemy at the Gates and Black Gold. Wolf Totem starring Chinese actors Feng Shaofeng and Dou Xiao is based on the autobiographical novel by Jiang Rong and tells the story of a student who is sent from Beijing in China to the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia to teach shepherds and learns about the bond that they share with the wolves. Annaud has written the screenplay with John Collee (Happy Feet, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World). Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Tod Williams’ ‘Cell’

Marcelo Zarvos is reuniting with director Tod Williams on the upcoming horror thriller Cell. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Stephen King and stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Stacy Keach. The film follows a New England artist who is struggling to reunite with his son after a mysterious signal broadcast over the global cell phone network turns humans into mindless vicious animals. Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left) has written the screenplay. Michael Benaroya (Lawless, Margin Call), Brian Witten (Chernobyl Diaries), Richard Saperstein & Shana Kay (Devil’s Knot, Silent Night) are producing the Benaroya Pictures production. ‘Frozen Fever’ to Feature New Song by Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced last night that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez are writing a new song for the upcoming animated short Frozen Fever. The film is directed by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It-Ralph) and Chris Buck (Tarzan) who also helmed last year’s hit movie and takes place on Anna’s birthday, for which Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever. Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, The Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh) is producing the project. ‘Kite’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the action movie Kite. The album features the film’s original music composed by Paul Hepker (Tsotsi, Deadliest Catch). Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the indie drama Whiplash. The album features the original jazz songs written for the film by Grammy nominee Tim Simonec, as well as the movie’s original underscore composed by Justin Hurwitz. Also included are number of classic jazz standards by artists including Stan Getz, Duke Ellington and more, as well as snippets of dialog from the movie. The soundtrack will be released on October 7, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Whiplash is written and directed by Damien Chazelle and stars Miles Teller, J.K. Simmons, Melissa Benoist, Paul Reiser, Austin Stowell, Nate Lang, Max Kasch and Damon Gupton. The movie follows an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory.
