The film is written and directed by Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland (The Last of Robin HoodQuinceanera) and stars Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Kate Bosworth and Hunter Parrish. The movie is based on a novel by Lisa Genova and follows a successful Columbia University professor who struggles to maintain her mind and self after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. Lex Lutzus (Age of Heroes), James Brown and Pamela Koffler (One Hour Photo, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) are producing the project. angry-video-game-nerdSparks & Shadows has released a soundtrack album for the indie comedy Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie. The album features the film’s original music written by Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, DaVinci’s Demons, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), as well as two remixes and two original songs by Young Beautiful in a Hurry written by the band’s Brendan McCreary. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie directed by James Rolfe & Kevin Finn is based on the web series of the same title. The Kickstarter-funded film centers around the mass burial of over 1 million copies of the proclaimed “worst video game of all time”, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600. The movie premieres today on VOD. gorky-parkIntrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1983 crime thriller Gorky Park directed by Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough, Nell, Gorillas in the Mist) based on the Martin Cruz Smith novel and starring William Hurt, Lee Marvin, Brian Dennehy and Joanna Pacula. The album features the film’s expanded score composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart). Als included are a a number of alternate cues and a source cue written by the Academy Award-winning composer for the MGM production. deliverance-creekJim Dooley has recently scored the Lifetime original movie Deliverance Creek. The drama marks the television debut of author Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John, Message in a Bottle) and stars Lauren Ambrose, Wes Ramsey, Yaani King, Caitlin Custer, Christopher Backus, Riley Smith, Katherine Willis and Christopher Baker. The film directed by Jon Amiel (Entrapment, Copycoat, The Core) takes place at the end of the Civil War and centers on a mother of three who attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary. asterixPhilippe Rombi has been hired to score the upcoming 3D animated feature Asterix: The Land of the Gods (Astérix: Le domaine des dieux). The movie is directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy and features the voices of Roger Carel, Lorant Deutsch, Alain Chabat, Laurent Lafitte, Géraldine Nakache, Elie Semoun, Florence Foresti and Astier himself in the original French version. No word yet on the voice cast of the English language version. The film is based on the 7th Asterix book, entitled The Mansion of the Gods written by Rene Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo, and follows the exploits of a village of ancient Gauls as they resist Roman occupation. The film is directed by Thomas Vinterberg (The HuntDear WendyIt’s All About Love) and stars Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen, Tom Sturridge, and Juno Temple. The movie is based on the 1874 novel of the same title by Thomas Hardy and tells the story of an independent and headstrong woman who attracts three very different suitors: a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching willfulness; a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and a prosperous and mature bachelor. David Nicholls (One Day, Starter for 10, Mike Newell’s Great Expectations) has written the screenplay. houdiniPremiering tomorrow night is the History original mini-series Houdini directed by Uli Edel and starring Adrien Brody and Kristen Connolly. John Debney (The Passion of the ChristElfIron Man 2Bruce Almighty) has composed the original music for the series about magician Harry Houdini. Lakeshore Records has released two soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s score (and additional music by Sebastian Arocha) digitally earlier this week. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Dario Marianelli (AtonementPride and PrejudiceAnna KareninaV for Vendetta). The soundtrack will be released on September 23, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips. The Boxtrolls is directed by Anthony Stacchi & Graham Annable and features the voices of Ben Kingsley, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan and Simon Pegg. The movie follows a group of monsters who live underneath thestreets of Cheesebridge, who crawl out of the sewers at night to steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. november-manAlready in theaters since Wednesday is the action thriller The November Man directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, Olga Kurylenko, Eliza Taylor, Caterina Scorsone, Bill Smitrovich and Will Patton. Marco Beltrami (World War ZScreamThe Wolverine3:10 to Yuma) has composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD version will be released on September 9. Opening nationwide today is the horror thriller As Above, So Below directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Francois Civil, Marion Lambert, Ali Marhyar, Cosme Castro and Hamidreza Javdan. The film’s original music is composed by Keefus Ciancia (NashvilleSaving GraceDianaThe Motel Life). No word on a soundtrack release. testament-of-youthMax Richter has signed on to score the upcoming historical drama Testament of Youth. The film is directed by James Kent (The Thirteenth Tale) and stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harrington, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey and Alexandra Roach. The movie is based on the autobiography of Vera Brittain and tells the story of the British writer and pacifist who postponed her studies at Oxford University during World War I to serve as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in London, France and Malta. Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) has written the screenplay. David Heyman (Harry Potter series, Gravity, I Am Legend) and Rosie Alison are producing the Heyday Films and BBC Films production.
