Mark Isham has been hired to score the upcoming romantic drama The Longest Ride. The film is directed by George Tillman, Jr. (Notorious, Faster) and stars Britt Robertson, Scott Eastwood, Jack Huston, Oona Chaplin and Alan Alda. The movie is based on the bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) and centers on the star-crossed love affair between a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback and a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. Craig Bolotin (Black Rain, Light It Up) has written the screenplay. ‘Big Eyes’ Soundtrack Released

Interscope Records will release a soundtrack album for Tim Burton’s comedy drama Big Eyes. The album features selections from the film’s original score composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, A Nightmare Before Christmas). Also included are the original songs Big Eyes and I Can Fly performed by Lana Del Rey, as well as tracks by Miles Davis, The Lively Ones, Red Garland Trio, Carl Tjader & more. Trevor Morris has been tapped to score the National Geographic Channel television event Killing Jesus. The movie is directed by Christopher Menaul (Summer in February, The Forsyte Saga) and stars Kelsey Grammer, Stephen Moyer, Emmanuelle Chriqui, John Rhys Davies, Rufus Sewell, Eoin Macken, Aneurin Barnard, Vernon Dobtcheff, Tamsin Egerton and John Lynch. The three-hour event is based on the best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly and chronicles the life of Jesus of Nazareth through the retelling of the political, social and historical conflicts during the Roman Empire that ultimately led to his death. Walon Green (The Wild Bunch, Eraser) has written the script. O’Reilly is also executive producing the project with Ridley Scott & David Zucker (The Good Wife, Numb3rs) for Scott Free Productions, Mary Lisio (Killing Kennedy), Teri Weinberg (The Tudors), Charlie Parsons (Survivor) and Heather Moran. Nathan Larson has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama A Walk in the Woods. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies directed by Peter Jackson and starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom. The film’s original music is composed by Howard Shore (The Silence of the Lambs, Hugo) who also scored the previous Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music in two editions. For the full album details, check out our soundtrack announcement. Also opening wide is the sequel Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Croods, The Avengers). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD version is set to be released on January 6. Quartet Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Argentinian comedy thriller Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries). Also included are songs by Giorgio Moroder, Lucien Belmond, Bobby Womack and David Guetta. The soundtrack will be released in the U.S. on February 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded below. Wild Tales is written and directed by Damian Szifro and stars Ricardo Darin, Oscar Martinez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Erica Rivas, Rita Cortese, Julieta Zylberberg and Dario Grandinetti. The movie produced by Pedro Almodovar is comprised of six separate stories and is one of the frontrunners to be nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at this season’s Academy Awards.
