Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

scorch-trialsExpected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action adventure The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials directed by Wes Ball and starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Patricia Clarkson, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar, Aidan Gillen, Jacob Lofland, Barry Pepper and Lili Taylor. The film’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, When the Game Stands Tall) who previously scored the first part in the series. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. black-mass black-massAlso opening wide is the crime drama Black Mass directed by Scott Cooper and starring Johnny Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, Corey Stoll, Rory Cochrane, Sienna Miller and Adam Scott. Tom Holkenborg (Mad Max: Fury Road, Divergent, 300: Rise of an Empire) has composed the film’s original score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Justin Kurzel’s ‘Macbeth’ Soundtrack Details

macbethDecca Records will release a soundtrack album for Justin Kurzel’s drama Macbeth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jed Kurzel (The Babadook, Slow West, The Snowtown Murders, Son of a Gun). The soundtrack will be released overseas on October 2, 2015 and in the U.S. on December 4. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album. Macbeth is based on the play by William Shakespeare and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cottilard, Sean Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, Paddy Considine and David Thewlis. John Debney to Score Mel Gibson’s ‘Hacksaw Ridge’

john-debneyJohn Debney confirmed in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he is set to reteam with Mel Gibson on the upcoming historical drama Hacksaw Ridge. The film starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey and Vince Vaughn is based on the life of Desmond T. Doss, a medic and the first conscientious objector who won the Congressional Medal of Honor after saving dozens of soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa. Randall Wallace (We Were Soldiers, Braveheart) and Robert Schenkkan (The Quiet American) have written the screenplay.  Read the rest of this entry »

mad-menRepublic Records, in partnership with Chop Shop Music and Lionsgate Entertainment will release a new soundtrack album for the AMC hit series Mad Men. The album features a collection of songs from all seven seasons of the show by artists including Bob Dylan, Roberta Flack, The Beach Boys, Bobby Helms, RJD2, Frank Sinatra, The New Seekers, Vic Damone, as well as actors Christina Hendricks, Robert Morse, Jessica Paré & more. Also included are two suites from the drama’s original score composed by David Carbonara. Retrospective: The Music of Mad Men will be released digitally on October 9, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mad Men created by Matthew Weiner and starring Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Batt, Michael Gladis, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Maggie Siff and John Slattery aired between 2007 and 2015 on AMC. Toby Chu to Score ‘The Wolves at the Door’

toby-chuToby Chu has signed on to score the upcoming period thriller The Wolves at the Door. The film is directed by John Leonetti (Annabelle, The Butterfly Effect 2) and stars Katie Cassidy, Miles Fisher, Elizabeth Henstridge and Adam Campbell. The movie is inspired by the horrifying Manson Family murders that shocked Los Angeles in 1969 and follows a group of friends who endure a terrifying home invasion. Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, Within) has written the screenplay. The album features the songs from the film by artists including The Daylights, Gary Trexler, Nathan Fox and Too Far Moon, as well as the track Where I’m Goin’ by actor Nat Wolff and his brother Alex Wolff. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 25, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ashby is written and directed by Tony McNamara and stars Mickey Rourke, Nat Wolff, Emma Roberts and Sarah Silverman. The movie scored by Alec Puro centers on the relationship between two neighbors, a high school student and a retired CIA assassin who only has a few months left to live. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Godzilla, The King’s Speech, The Queen). The soundtrack will be released on October 23, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Suffragette is directed by Sarah Gavron and stars Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw and Meryl Streep. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Shrek, X-Men: The Last Stand). The film is based on a short story by Ted Chiang and stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. The movie takes place after alien crafts land around the world and follows an expert linguist who is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.
