Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

legend-of-tarzanOpening in most theaters is the action adventure The Legend of Tarzan directed by David Yates and starring Alexander Skarsgård, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent and Christoph Waltz. The film’s original music is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Over the Hedge, Bee Movie, Hotel Rwanda, Click). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as two original songs by Hozier and Zoe Mthiyane. the-bfgAlso opening wide is the fantasy adventure The BFG directed by Steven Spielberg and  starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Penelope Wilton, Rafe Spall and Bill Hader. John Williams (Star Wars, E.T., Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Nine Lives’ Soundtrack Announced

nine-livesEuropaCorp will release the official soundtrack album for the comedy Nine Lives. The album features the film’s original music composed by Evgueni & Sacha Galperine (The Family, The Past, Madame Bovary). Also included is the song Three Cool Cats by The Coasters. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Nine Lives is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Get Shorty) and stars Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Garner, Malina Weissman, Cheryl Hines, Christopher Walken and Robbie Amell. The Luc Besson-produced movie follows a workaholic businessman who has to figure out how to redeem himself after a terrible accident leaves him trapped in the body of his family’s cat. Cliff Martinez to Score James Mangold’s ‘Wolverine’ Sequel

wolverineCliff Martinez has signed on to score James Mangold’s currently untitled Wolverine sequel. The film stars Hugh Jackman in the title role and will mark his final appearance as the character. Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal are co-starring. No plot details have been announced yet. David James Kelly has written the screenplay. Simon Kinberg (X-Men:Days of Future Past & Apocalypse, The Martian, Cinderella) is producing the project with Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men series, Deadpool, Constantine). ‘Ben-Hur’ Soundtrack Details

ben-hurThe details of the soundtrack album for the epic historical drama Ben-Hur have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (World War Z, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, The Shallows). The soundtrack will be released on August 5, 2016 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ben-Hur is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro, Ayelet Zurer, Sofia Black D’Elia, Nazanin Boniadi and Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and stars Chris Evans, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer and Mckenna Grace. The movie follows a single man raising his child prodigy niece, when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of his formidable mother. The 11-parter is created and directed by Hannah MacPherson and stars Lia Marie Johnson, Lulu Antariksa, Katelyn Nacon, JC Caylen, Tristin Mays, Timothy Granaderos, Brendan Meyer, Nick Fink, Lukas Gage, Kurt Caceres and Claudia Sulewski. The psychological thriller follows three teenage girls who try to figure out who “tagged” their social-media profiles to a horrific murder online, before the killer finds them. The show is created by Olen Steinhauer and stars Richard Armitage, Michelle Forbes, Richard Jenkins, Rhys Ifans, Tamlyn Tomita, Leland Orser, Richard Dillane and Bernhard Schütz. The movie follows a CIA officer who arrives at the CIA foreign station in Berlin, Germany to determine the identity of a now-famous whistleblower. Michaël Roskam (Bullhead, The Drop) has directed the first two episodes and is also executive producing the project with Steinhauer, showrunner Bradford Winters (Boss, Oz), Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Steve Golin (Spotlight, Mr. Robot), Kerry Kohansky-Roberts (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist), Keith Redmon (The Revenant, Triple 9) and Luke Rivet (Everly). Clint Eastwood’s ‘Sully’ to Feature Music by Christian Jacob & The Tierney Sutton Band

sullyChristian Jacob and The Tierney Sutton Band are composing the original music for the upcoming drama Sully. The film is directed by Clint Eastwood (American Sniper, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby) and stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney. The movie tells the true story of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger who, in 2009, became a national hero in after he successfully executed an emergency water landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River. Todd Komarnicki  (Perfect Stranger) has written the screenplay based on the book Highest Duty by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow. ‘Cell’ Soundtrack Details

The album features the film’s original music composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The Good Shepherd, The Affair, Enough Said, Ray Donovan, The Words, Remember Me). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Cell is directed by Tod Williams (The Door in the Floor) and stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Stacy Keach. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Stephen King and follows a New England artist who is struggling to reunite with his son after a mysterious signal broadcast over the global cell phone network turns humans into mindless vicious animals. The show is created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Revolution) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Visnjic, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. The series follows a scientist, a soldier and a history professor who are traveling through time to battle unknown criminals in order to protect history as we know it. Ryan and Kripke are also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with John Davis (I, Robot, Chronicle, Waterworld) & John Fox (The Blacklist) and Marney Hochman (The Get Down).
