Premiering on Tuesday, January 16, is the new CW drama Black Lightning developed by Samil Akil & Mara Brock Akil based on the DC comic books character created by Tony Isabella & Trevor Von Eeden and starring Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams. The show’s original music is composed by Kurt Farquhar (The King of Queens, Moesha, The Perfect Game, Stitchers). Premiering on Wednesday, January 17, is the FX original series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story starring Darren Criss, Edgar Ramírez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. Plaza Mayor Company will release a soundtrack album for the Chinese action movie Operation Red Sea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Elliot Leung. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 2, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on 
WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack for the Netflix original series Disjointed. The digital single features The 4/20 Song written by the show’s composer Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Ash vs Evil Dead) who recorded the track with the Hollywood Studio Orchestra and Singers. Opening in most theaters is the family movie Paddington 2 directed by Paul King and starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton and Ben Whishaw. The film’s original score is composed by Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Kubo and the Two Strings, Darkest Hour). Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the songs from the film by Tobago and d’Lime. 
Also opening wide is the thriller The Commuter directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Jonathan Banks, Elizabeth McGovern and Sam Neill. Walt Disney Records has announced the first full soundtrack album for Disney’s Tangled: The Series. The album features the songs from the show composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Enchanted) and featuring lyrics by Glenn Slater (Galavant), including previously unreleased Set Yourself Free and Ready As I’ll Ever Be from the first season finale premiering this weekend. Heitor Pereira is reuniting with director Raja Gosnell (Never Been Kissed, Scooby-Doo, Big Momma’s House) on the upcoming family comedy Show Dogs. The film starring Will Arnett, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Natasha Lyonne, Jordin Sparks, Gabriel Iglesias, Shaquille O’Neal, Alan Cumming and Stanley Tucci revolves around the unlikely pairing of a human detective and his canine partner who has to go undercover at the world’s most exclusive dog show to solve his biggest case yet.

Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums) is composing the music for the upcoming IMAX documentary Pandas. The film is directed by David Douglas & Drew Fellman and follows a researcher at Chengdu Panda Base in China who is dedicated to protecting the species by breeding adult Giant Pandas in order to introduce cubs into the wild and whose passion leads her to initiate a new technique inspired by a black bear program in rural New Hampshire. 
Hollywood Records will release the first soundtrack album for Marvel’s Hulu original series Runaways. The album features a selections of songs from the show’s first season by artists such as Francis and the Lights, Glass Animals, Billie Eilish, Sofi Tukker, Lizzy Land & more. Also included is the main titles theme by the series’ composer Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, The Royals, The Neighbors), as well as the original song Gert’s Lullaby, which he co-wrote with Ariela Barer. The soundtrack will be available to download tomorrow, January 12 on
