Premiering on Tuesday, January 16, is the new CW drama Black Lightning developed by Samil Akil & Mara Brock Akil based on the DC comic books character created by Tony Isabella & Trevor Von Eeden and starring Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams. Plaza Mayor Company will release a soundtrack album for the Chinese action movie Operation Red Sea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Elliot Leung. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 2, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Operation Red Sea directed by Dante Lam is a follow-up to the 2015 hit feature Operation Mekong and stars Zhang Yi, Du Jiang, Huang Jingyu, Hai Qing and Prince Mak. The movie follows the Jiaolong Assault Team, one of the special forces of the world’s largest military force, People’s Liberation Army, who are leading a unit to evacuate Chinese residents from a North African republic in the throes of a coup d’état. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack for the Netflix original series Disjointed. The digital single features The 4/20 Song written by the show’s composer Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Ash vs Evil Dead) who recorded the track with the Hollywood Studio Orchestra and Singers. Also included is the song As Long As We Can performed by lead actress Kathy Bates. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the family movie Paddington 2 directed by Paul King and starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton and Ben Whishaw. The film’s original score is composed by Dario Marianelli (AtonementPride and PrejudiceKubo and the Two StringsDarkest Hour). Walt Disney Records has announced the first full soundtrack album for Disney’s Tangled: The Series. The album features the songs from the show composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the BeastThe Little MermaidAladdinEnchanted) and featuring lyrics by Glenn Slater (Galavant), including previously unreleased Set Yourself Free and Ready As I’ll Ever Be from the first season finale premiering this weekend. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 19, 2018. and will be available to download on Amazon. Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums) is composing the music for the upcoming IMAX documentary Pandas. The film is directed by David Douglas & Drew Fellman and follows a researcher at Chengdu Panda Base in China who is dedicated to protecting the species by breeding adult Giant Pandas in order to introduce cubs into the wild and whose passion leads her to initiate a new technique inspired by a black bear program in rural New Hampshire. Hollywood Records will release the first soundtrack album for Marvel’s Hulu original series Runaways. The album features a selections of songs from the show’s first season by artists such as Francis and the Lights, Glass Animals, Billie Eilish, Sofi Tukker, Lizzy Land & more. Also included is the main titles theme by the series’ composer Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, The Royals, The Neighbors), as well as the original song Gert’s Lullaby, which he co-wrote with Ariela Barer.
