Jordan Gagne has been tapped to score the upcoming ABC drama The Rookie. The show is created by Alexi Hawley (Castle, The Following) and stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson and Eric Winter. The series follows a middle-aged small-town guy who moves to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Hawley is also executive producing the Entertainment One (eOne) and ABC Studios production with Fillion, Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, Speed, Grey’s Anatomy), Michelle Chapman and Jon Steinberg, as well as Liz Friedlander (Conviction) who also directed the first episode. Nicolas Errèra (Shaolin, The Butterfly) has recently scored the Chinese action drama Hidden Man. The film is directed by Jiang Wen (Gone with the Bullets, Let the Bullets Fly) who also stars in the movie alongside actress Eddie Peng, Zhou Yun, Liao Fan and Xu Qing. The movie is set in 1930s China and follows a young swordsman who returns home to try and solve a five-year-old murder case. The film is directed by Farhad Safinia (Boss, screenwriter of Apocalypto) and stars Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, Natalie Dormer, Jeremy Irvine, Ioan Gruffudd, Steve Coogan, Laurence Fox and Jennifer Ehle. The movie is based on the book The Surgeon of Crowthorne by Simon Winchester and tells the story of professor James Murray, who began compiling the Oxford English Dictionary in 1857 and Dr. William Chester Minor, who submitted more than 10,000 entries while he was an inmate at an asylum for the criminally insane. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ Soundtrack Announced

City Zen Records will release a soundtrack album for the new film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The album features the film’s original music composed by singer/songwriter Mia Todd Doi who collaborated with artists such as Saul Williams, Tunde Adebimpe, Dntel (of The Postal Service), the Swedish psych band Dungen, Mexican folk/experimental musician Luis Pérez Ixoneztli, and composer, arranger & viola player Miguel Atwood-Ferguson on her score. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 13, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Premiering tonight is the HBO limited series Sharp Objects developed by Marti Noxon based on the novel of the same title by Gillian Flynn, directed by Jean-Marc Valle and starring Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, and Matt Craven. The show doesn’t feature an original score. Susan Jacobs who previously collaborated with Vallee on HBO’s Big Little Lies serves as the project’s music supervisor. The series follows a reporter who confronts the psychological demons from her past when she returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder. Premiering on Friday, July 13, is the Netflix original movie How It Ends directed by David M. Rosenthal and starring Theo James, Forest Whitaker and Kat Graham. The film’s original music is composed by Atli Orvarsson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Chicago Fire, Babylon A.D.).
