Premiering tomorrow, April 22, is the HBO and BBC series Gentleman Jack created by Sally Wainwright and starring Suranne Jones, Sophie Rundle, Gemma Whelan, Timothy West, Jeremy Lister and Gemma Jones. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who, Torchwood, Death at a Funeral, A Very English Scandal). Check out our previous news article and also visit the official show website to learn more about the drama, which will air in the U.S. Monday nights on HBO and will premiere in the UK on BBC later this spring.

Premiering on Friday, April 26, is the Netflix original series Chambers created by Leah Rachel and starring Sivan Alyra Rose, Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn. James S. Levine (Glee, Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story, Running with Scissors, Damages, The Weather Man) is composing the show’s original music. This past week, Gregoire Hetzel (Incendies, Summertime, The Midwife) has recorded his music for the upcoming French thriller Oh Mercy! (Roubaix, une lumière). The film is written and directed by Arnaud Desplechin (Esther Khan, Jimmy P.) and stars Roschdy Zem, Antoine Reinartz, Léa Seydoux and Sara Forestier. The movie is set in the director’s native town of Roubaix in northern France and tells the true story of a crime in which two women murdered an elderly woman. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Hostile Planet’ Vol. 2 Soundtrack Album Released

Milan Records has released the second soundtrack album for the National Geographic docu-series Hostile Planet. The album features more music from the show composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Shazam!, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Hellboy). The Vol. 2 album, entitled Jungles and Grasslands, is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The first album (Mountains and Oceans) was released earlier this month and a third album (Deserts and Polar) will be coming out next month. Hostile Planet hosted by Bear Grylls and executive produced by Guillermo Navarro looks at animals surviving at the extremes of different environments, in mountains, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts, and polar regions.  Read the rest of this entry »

Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The Curse of La Llorona directed by Michael Chaves and starring Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez and Raymond Cruz. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Annabelle, Insidious, The Prodigy). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the faith-based drama Breakthrough directed by Roxann Dawson and starring Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Sam Trammell, Marcel Ruiz and Dennis Haysbert. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Affair, The Good Shepherd) has composed the film’s original score. Fox Music has released as soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for more details). Mercury Nashville has released a separate album featuring the songs from & inspired by the movie, including an original track written by Diane Warren and performed by Metz (click here for more information). On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, Leo Birenberg & Zach Robinson will be performing music from the YouTube Premium original series Cobra Kai at a live concert event, which will take place at 8:00pm at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. Ed Sheeran has recorded an original song for Danny Boyle’s upcoming musical comedy drama Yesterday. The track will be featured in the movie written by Richard Curtis and starring Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, as well as the singer/songwriter himself. The movie, which follows a struggling singer whose dreams are fading who wakes to discover that The Beatles have never existed, also features an original score by Daniel Pemberton and new recordings of classic Beatles songs. ‘Hail Satan?’ Soundtrack Released

Wayfind Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Hail Satan?. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brian McOmber (It Comes at Night, Little Woods, Krisha, Ugly) featuring Angel Deradoorian and Jordan Dykstra. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Hail Satan? is directed by Penny Lane and charts the rise of The Satanic Temple, a mysterious organization led by Lucien Greaves that is calling for a Satanic revolution to save the nation’s soul. Mateo Messina (Juno, Blockers, Butter, Barely Lethal) has signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original movie Tall Girl. The film is directed by Nzingha Stewart and stars Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, Luke Eisner, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Berelc, Anjelika Washington, Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, Clara Wilsey and Rico Paris. The comedy centers on a six-foot-tall girl as she tries to make her way through high school feeling like an outcast. Sam Wolfson wrote the screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation), Mary Viola (The Duff, I Feel Pretty, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) & Corey Marsh are producing the project for Wonderland. Louder Than Life Records has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix original documentary Grass Is Greener. The album features music inspired by the film by the movie’s composer Salaam Remi (Sparkle, Tyson). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Grass Is Greener is directed and narrated by Fab 5 and centers on the racially biased history of the war on marijuana. The movie features Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill’s B-Real,  Damian Marley,DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Chuck D & others as they discuss the plant’s influence on music and popular culture, and the devastating impact its criminalization has had on black and Latino communities. Milan Records has released the main title theme for the new Cinemax original series Warrior. The theme is written by the show’s composers H. Scott Salinas (A Private War, Cartel Land, The Ballad of Lefty Brown) & Reza Safinia (Filly Brown, The Trust) who previously co-scored the feature Birth of the Dragon. The track is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Warrior is created by Jonathan Tropper and stars Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Joanna Vanderham, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Joe Taslim, Langley Kirkwood, Christian McKay and Perry Yung.
