Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the French comedy The Shiny Shrimps (Les Crevettes Pailletées). The album features the film’s original music composed by Thomas Couzinier & Frédéric Kooshmanian (Black Spot, Goal of the Dead). Also included are songs by R.E.M., The Music Yard, Harshman & others. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. The show created by Steve Conrad (Wonder, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) & Bruce Terris (Patriot)  and stars Ben Kingsley, Jimmi Simpson, Jackie Weaver, Luis Guzman, Damon Herriman, Chris Conrad, Kurtwood Smith, Terry O’Quinn and Hana Mae Lee. The show is developed by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Pocahontas), Michael Chabon (John Carter) & Ayelet Waldman and stars Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever. The drama is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning article by The Marshall Project and ProPublica, An Unbelievable Story of Rape, and follows two detectives whose lives become intertwined in their mutual pursuit of a possible serial rapist. Javier Navarrete has been tapped to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Antlers. The film is directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Out of the Furnace) and stars Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Amy Madigan, Scott Haze and Rory Cochrane. The movie follows a small-town Oregon teacher and her brother, the local sheriff, as they become entwined with a young student harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences. Variety is reporting that Janelle Monae is contributing two original songs to the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. In addition, her artist collective Wondaland is also recording a new version of The Siamese Cat Song originally performed by Peggy Lee for the 1955 animated classics. Monae is also part of the voice cast of the movie, which is directed by Charlie Bean and also stars Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux, Sam Elliott, Ashley Jensen, Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Mann, Benedict Wong and Yvette Nicole Brown.  Read the rest of this entry »

Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Crazy Rich Asians) has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy Charlie’s Angels. The film based on the classic 70s TV series is directed by Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) and stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott & Ella Balinska in the title roles, as well as Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Djimon Hounsou, Patrick Stewart and Banks herself. Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider’s Web) & Banks wrote the screenplay based on eearlier versions by Craig Mazin (Identity Thief, The Hangover II & III) and Semi Chellas (American Woman). Pop Noire will release a soundtrack album for the documentary XY Chelsea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Savages front woman Jehnny Beth & Johnny Hostile. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Let It Out) is already available to download here. A vinyl edition is also in the works and will be available to order here. XY Chelsea is directed by Tim Travers Hawkins and tells the historic story of whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, whose 35-year sentence in a maximum security prison was commuted by President Obama in 2017. Mark Korven has composed the original score for the upcoming horror thriller The Lighthouse. The film is directed by Robert Eggers and stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. The movie tells the story of an aging lighthouse keeper who lives in early 20th-century Maine. Robert Eggers also co-wrote the screenplay with Max Eggers. Rodrigo Teixeira (Call Me By Your Name, Frances Ha) & Lourenço Sant’ Anna are producing the project for RT Features, alongside Jay Van Hoy (American Honey, Love Is Strange) & Youree Henley (The Beguiled, 20th Century Women) for Parts & Labor. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s seventh season composed by Scott Shields & Paul Saunderson (Three Identical Strangers, 100 Streets, The More You Ignore Me). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Varese Sarabande has previously released a soundtrack album featuring Shields’ score from the third and fourth season of the drama. Season 7 of Strike Back starring Daniel MacPherson, Warren Brown, Alin Sumarwata, Jamie Bamber and Yasemin Allen premiered earlier this year in the UK on Sky One and in the U.S. on Cinemax.
