John Swihart (How I Met Your Mother, Napoleon Dynamite, Youth in Revolt, Table 19) has recently scored the upcoming thriller The Fanatic. The film is directed by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst (The Longshots, The Education of Charlie Banks) and stars John Travolta and Devon Sawa. The movie is inspired by Durst’s own life and follows a rabid movie fan obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero whose fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life. ‘Hostile Planet’ Vol. 3 Soundtrack Album Released

Milan Records has the third and final soundtrack album for the National Geographic docu-series Hostile Planet. The album features more music from the show composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Shazam!, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation). The Vol. 3 album, entitled Deserts and Polar, is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The first album (Mountains and Oceans) was released in early April and the second album (Jungles and Grassland) is now also available. Hostile Planet executive produced by Guillermo Navarro and hosted by Bear Grylls looks at animals surviving at the extremes of different environments, in mountains, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts, and polar regions. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature UglyDolls directed by Kelly Asbury and starring Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, Janelle Monae, Wanda Sykes, Emma Roberts, Gabriel Iglesias, Wang Leehom and Pitbull. The film’s original score is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Sausage Party) who also co-wrote most of the film’s original songs with Glenn Slater (Tangled, Galavant). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs last week. Click here for the full album details.
Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Long Shot directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel, Bob Odenkirk and Alexander Skarsgård. Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) & Miles Hankins (The Night Before, Len and Company) have composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album has been released for the documentary The River and the Wall. The album features the film’s original music composed by Noah Sorota (Falling Skies, Jinn, The Gracefield Incident, Reverie). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The River and the Wall is directed by Ben Masters and follows five friends on a 1,200 mile journey along the US-Mexico border from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico. Max Aruj & Steffen Thum have composed the original music for the upcoming horror thriller Crawl. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Home) serves as the score producer of the film written and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension, Piranha 3D) and starring Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper. The movie follows a young woman who becomes trapped in a flooding house during a Category 5 hurricane and must battle against Florida’s most savage and feared predators. ‘Backdraft 2’ Soundtrack Details

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the action drama sequel Backdraft 2. The album features the film’s original music composed and performed by Randy Edelman (The Last of the Mohicans, Dragonheart, Gettysburg, While You Were Sleeping, Kindergarten Cop). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 10 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. A CD version will be released by Intrada Records and will be available to order here. Backdraft 2 is directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego and stars Donald Sutherland and William Baldwin who their roles as Ronald Bartel and Brian McCaffrey from the 1991 original Backdraft movie, as well as Joe Anderson, Alisha Bailey and Jessamine-Bliss Bell. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Joker, Mary Magdalene), Rutger Hoedemaekers and Johann Johannsson (Arrival, The Theory of Everything, Sicario).
