Variety is reporting that Janelle Monae is contributing two original songs to the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. In addition, her artist collective Wondaland is also recording a new version of The Siamese Cat Song originally performed by Peggy Lee for the 1955 animated classics. Monae is also part of the voice cast of the movie, which is directed by Charlie Bean and also stars Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux, Sam Elliott, Ashley Jensen, Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Mann, Benedict Wong and Yvette Nicole Brown. Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Crazy Rich Asians) has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy Charlie’s Angels. The film based on the classic 70s TV series is directed by Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) and stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott & Ella Balinska in the title roles, as well as Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Djimon Hounsou, Patrick Stewart and Banks herself. Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider’s Web) & Banks wrote the screenplay based on eearlier versions by Craig Mazin (Identity Thief, The Hangover II & III) and Semi Chellas (American Woman). ‘XY Chelsea’ Soundtrack Album Announced

Pop Noire will release a soundtrack album for the documentary XY Chelsea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Savages front woman Jehnny Beth & Johnny Hostile. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Let It Out) is already available to download here. A vinyl edition is also in the works and will be available to order here. XY Chelsea is directed by Tim Travers Hawkins and tells the historic story of whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, whose 35-year sentence in a maximum security prison was commuted by President Obama in 2017. Mark Korven has composed the original score for the upcoming horror thriller The Lighthouse. The film is directed by Robert Eggers and stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. The movie tells the story of an aging lighthouse keeper who lives in early 20th-century Maine. Robert Eggers also co-wrote the screenplay with Max Eggers. ‘Strike Back’ Season 7 Soundtrack Released

Madison Gate Records has released a new soundtrack album for the British action series Strike Back. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s seventh season composed by Scott Shields & Paul Saunderson (Three Identical Strangers, 100 Streets, The More You Ignore Me). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Varese Sarabande has previously released a soundtrack album featuring Shields’ score from the third and fourth season of the drama. Season 7 of Strike Back starring Daniel MacPherson, Warren Brown, Alin Sumarwata, Jamie Bamber and Yasemin Allen premiered earlier this year in the UK on Sky One and in the U.S. on Cinemax. The show’s original music is composed by Samuel Sim (Awake, The Halcyon, Home Fires) and Chris Egan (Man Down). ‘Hostile Planet’ Vol. 3 Soundtrack Album Released

Milan Records has the third and final soundtrack album for the National Geographic docu-series Hostile Planet. The album features more music from the show composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Shazam!, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation). The Vol. 3 album, entitled Deserts and Polar, is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The first album (Mountains and Oceans) was released in early April and the second album (Jungles and Grassland) is now also available. Hostile Planet executive produced by Guillermo Navarro and hosted by Bear Grylls looks at animals surviving at the extremes of different environments, in mountains, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts, and polar regions. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature UglyDolls directed by Kelly Asbury and starring Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, Janelle Monae, Wanda Sykes, Emma Roberts, Gabriel Iglesias, Wang Leehom and Pitbull. The film’s original score is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Sausage Party) who also co-wrote most of the film’s original songs with Glenn Slater (Tangled, Galavant). Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Long Shot directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel, Bob Odenkirk and Alexander Skarsgård. Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) & Miles Hankins (The Night Before, Len and Company) have composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album has been released for the documentary The River and the Wall. The album features the film’s original music composed by Noah Sorota (Falling Skies, Jinn, The Gracefield Incident, Reverie). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The River and the Wall is directed by Ben Masters and follows five friends on a 1,200 mile journey along the US-Mexico border from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico.
