Netflix has announced today that Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas) will compose new music for an upcoming film adaptation of the Broadyway musical 13. Tamra Davis (High School Musical: The Musical, Crossroads) will direct the movie based on the stage musical by Robert Horn & Dan Elish about a young man who grapples with his parents’ divorce following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana as he prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school. Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for the romantic drama The Photograph. The album features the film’s original score written by jazz pianist/record producer and composer Robert Glasper (Miles Ahead). Also included is Lucky Daye’s original song Fade Away (already available as a digital single), as well as H.E.R.’s Comfortable and Erykah Badu’s & James Poyser’s cover of Squeeze’s Tempted. The album features the film’s original music composed by Timo Kaukolampi & Tuomo Puranen (Euthanizer). Maria’s Paradise is directed by Zaida Bergroth and stars Pihla Viitala, Satu Tuuli Karhu and Saga Sarkola. The movie is based on a real-life scandal that took place in Finland in the 1920s and centers on a teenage girl who begins to question the teachings (and actions) of the fringe religious sect in which she has been raised. The 10th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards have announced a number of special guest performers and slate of presenters for the upcoming ceremony on February 6th in Los Angeles. Regina Spektor (who wrote and performed an original song for last year’s Bombshell) and the indie pop band Lola Marsh will be performing at the event. Among the presenters are Bombshell director Jay Roach, Grammy Award winner Michael Bolton, actors Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked), Daniel Ezra (All American, Prey), Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan), musician/comedian Reggie Watts and former NFL player Spencer Paysinger.
