‘Colewell’ Soundtrack to Be Released

Notefornote Entertainment will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Colewell. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dara Taylor. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Colewell is written and directed by Tom Quinn and stars Karen Allen, Kevin J. O’Connor, Hannah Gross and Catherine Kellner. The movie revolves around a woman who has been the postmaster of Colewell, Pennsylvania for 35 years. When the USPS decides to close her office, she must choose whether to relocate for a new position or face retirement in Colewell. Read the rest of this entry »

Nathan Larson (Boys Don’t Cry, Dirty Pretty Things, Margin Call, Juliet, Naked) is composing the original score for the new Hulu original series High Fidelity. The show is developed by Sarah Kucserka & Veronica West and stars Zoë Kravitz, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, David H. Holmes, Jake Lacy and Kingsley Ben-Adir. The comedy is inspired by Nick Hornby’s 1995 book and Stephen Frears’ 2000 feature of the same title and follows a female record store owner in the rapidly gentrified neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn who revisits past relationships through music and pop culture, while trying to get over her one true love. The only new movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the comic book movie Birds of Prey directed by Cathy Yan and starring Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett, Ewan McGregor, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco and Ali Wong. The film’s original score is composed by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie (click here for the fill album details). WaterTower Music will release a separate soundtrack featuring Pemberton’s score next Friday, February 14.

Opening in limited release is the psychological thriller The Lodge co-written and directed by Severin Fiala & Veronika Franz and starring Riley Keough, Richard Armitage, Alicia Silverstone, Jaeden Lieberher and Lia McHugh. Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Boy ErasedEnemyThe Outsider, The Gift) have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the HBO limited series The New Pope. The album features selections of the original score from the show composed by Lele Marchitelli (The Great BeautyLoro) who has previously scored HBO’s 2016 series The Young Pope. Also included is the opening titles song Good Time Girl by Sofi Tukker feat. Charlie Barker (check out the title sequence after the jump) as well as tracks by KILNAMAN, Flock of Dimes, Millie Turner, Be Svendsen & AYAWAKE, Karmic & others. Sony Classical has released the traditional folk and gospel song I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger as featured in Sam Mendes’ World War I drama 1917. The track is performed by actor Jos Slovick and was arranged by Craig Leon. Three versions of the song are now available to stream and download as a digital single on Amazon. The label has previously released the official soundtrack album for the movie featuring Thomas Newman’s Academy Award-nominated score. 1917 starring George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch follows two young British soldiers who must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers. The 10th Guild of Music Supervisors Awards were handed out on Thursday night at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Mary Ramos received the top honor in the Best Music Supervision in Motion Picture – Motion Picture Over 25M for her work on Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Kier Lehman received the award in the Motion Picture Under 25M category for his music supervision on Melina Matsouka’s Queen & Slim. Meghan Currier and Randall Poster were honored in the Motion Picture Under 10M category for their music supervision on Trey Edward Shults’ Waves and Terri D’Ambrosio took home the prize in the Motion Picture Under 5M category for her work on Joe Talbot’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Arber (The Capture, My Name Is Lenny, Scott and Sid, Hitsville: The Making of Motown). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Show Me the Picture: The Story of Jim Marshall is directed by Alfred George Bailey and chronicles the infamous photographer’s life behind and outside the camera. VFW is directed by Joe Begos and stars Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin Kove, Sierra McCormick and David Patrick Kelly. The Voltage Pictures production revolves around a group of war veterans who must defend their local VFW post and an innocent teen against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants.
