The music production team Transcenders has been tapped to score the upcoming CBS drama Madam Secretary. The show is created by Barbara Hall (Homeland, Joan of Arcadia) and stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Katherine Herzer and Evan Roe. The series follows the newly appointed Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, circumvents protocol and battles office politics as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. Hall is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with Morgan Freeman & Lori McCreary (Invictus), Tracy Mercer (Through the Wormhole) and David Semel (Person of Interest) who also directed the pilot episode.

Varese Sarabande to Release Soundtrack for Showtime’s ‘Penny Dreadful’
Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the Showtime original series Penny Dreadful. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Golden Globe nominee Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, W.E., Romeo & Juliet). The soundtrack will be released on August 19, 2014. Check back on this page for the full album details. Penny Dreadful is created by John Logan and stars Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani. The show is set in Victorian London and weaves together such characters as Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula. The psychological thriller recently ended its first seasn run.

The show’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Enough Said, Ry Donovan, The Big C, Remember Me). Dave Porter to Score Starz’s ‘Flesh and Bone’
Dave Porter has signed on to score the upcoming Starz original series Flesh and Bone. The show is created by Moira Walley-Beckett and stars Sarah Hay, Irina Dvorovenko, Sascha Radetsky, Raychel Diane Weiner, Emily Tyra and Damon Herriman. The series follows a young ballet dancer with a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. Walley-Beckett is also executive producing the project with Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, Good Will Hunting), Kevin Brown (Roswell) and John Melfi (House of Cards, Sex and the City). David Michod (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) is directing the pilot episode.
Graeme Revell to Score Fox’s ‘Gotham’
Graeme Revell is set to score the upcoming Fox drama Gotham. The show is based on characters from the DC Comics universe and explores the early years of Commissioner James Gordon as an idealistic rookie detective in Gotham City and the rogues’ gallery of villains that made the city infamous. The series’ cast includes Ben McKenzie, Erin Richards, Donal Logue, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Jada Pinkett Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, Sean Pertwee, Zabryna Guevara and Camren Bicondova. Bruno Heller (The Mentalist, Rome) wrote the pilot and will serves as the showrunner. He is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with John Stephens (Gossip Girl). Danny Cannon (Judge Dredd, Nikita) has directed the pilot episode and will also serve as an executive producer.
Jesse Novak to Score Netflix’s ‘BoJack Horseman’
Jesse Novak has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman. The show is created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and features the voices of Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie and Aaron Paul. The animated comedy centers around whiskey-drinking humanoid horse and former TV star BoJack who deals with his personal crises with a human sidekick and a feline agent and ex-lover. Bob-Waksberg is also executive producing the project with Arnett, Paul, Steven A. Cohen (Jack & Bobby, Commander-in-Chief) and Noel Bright. The first season of BoJack Horseman is set to premiere on August 22, 2014 on Netflix.
‘A Lyke Wake Dirge’ by Andrew Bird & Matt Berninger from AMC’s ‘Turn’ to Be Released
Mercury Records will release the original song A Lyke Wake Dirge from the AMC original series Turn. The track is written by Andrew Bird and Matt Berninger and was featured in the first season finale that premiered earlier this month. Bird has previously composed songs for such films as The Muppets and also scored the indie dramedy Norman. Berninger is best known as the frontman of The National. A Lyke Wake Dirge will be released as a single on July 8, 2014. Turn is created by Craig Silverstein and stars Jamie Bell, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, Heather Lind, Meegan Warner, Kevin R. McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus Macfadyen, JJ Feild and Samuel Roukin.

William Ross and Alex Kovacs Scoring OWN’s ‘Operation Change’
William Ross and Alex Kovacs are composing the music for the new OWN docu-series Operation Change. The show follows Bill & Tani Austin and their son Steven Sawalich from the Starkey Hearing Foundation, a global non-profit organization that gives free hearing aids to those in need, as they are joined by philanthropists and celebrities to tackle some of the most challenging issues plaguing our world today. The ten-part series features former President Bill Clinton, Sir Elton John, Sir Richard Branson, the Dalai Lama, Donna Karan, and Harry Connick, Jr. among others, each working to benefit a different region and local organization.
