Music Super Circus has released a soundtrack album for the HBO Europe original series Beartown (Björnstad). The album features selections of the original score from the show composed by Johan Testad (The Sandhamn Murders, Drifters, Inkognito). Also included are two songs by myie and Lasse Nystromz Orkester. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. Beartown is created by Anders Weidemann, Antonia Pyk & Linn Gottfridsson based on the bestselling novel by Fredrik Backman (A Man Called Ove) and stars Ulf Stenberg and Aliette Opheim. The Swedish 5-part drama directed by Peter Grönlund is set in a small, hockey-obsessed town in the Swedish wilderness whose community is torn apart by a violent act.

Nami Melumad to Score Nickelodeon’s ‘Star Trek: Prodigy’
Nami Melumad (An American Pickle, Absentia, Miss Arizona) has been tapped to score the upcoming Nickelodeon animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. The show is created by Kevin Hageman & Dan Hageman (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu) and follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation. Kate Mulgrew will star as her Star Trek: Voyager character Kathryn Janeway. No other casting announcements have been made yet.
Evgueni & Sacha Galperine Scoring HBO’s ‘The Undoing’
Evgueni Galperine & Sacha Galperine (Loveless, The Family, Radioactive, The Wizard of Lies, Nine Lives) are the composers of the new HBO limited series The Undoing. The show is created by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Practice, Ally McBeal) based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel You Should Have Known and stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Edgar Ramirez, Noah Jupe, Lily Rabe, Noma Dumezweni, Matilda De Angelis, Ismael Cruz Córdova and Donald Sutherland. The 6-part drama is directed by Susanne Bier (The Night Manager, Bird Box) and revolves around a successful therapist in New York whose life begins to unravel on the eve of publishing her first book.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (October 18, 2020)
Premiering on Thursday, October 22 is the fantasy adventure comedy The Witches directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth, Chris Rock and Jahzir Kadeen Bruno. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump. Marvel’s The Avengers, Cast Away, Who Framed Roger Rabbit). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced this coming week. Check out our previous article to learn more about the Warner Bros. Pictures production, which was originally set to open in theaters (and is still being released theatrically in several foreign markets next week) and will debut in the U.S. exclusively on HBO Max.
Premiering on Friday, October 23 (following a very limited theatrical release on October 9 we missed in our film music roundup that week) is the Netflix animated film Over the Moon directed by Glen Keane and starring Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo, Ken Jeong, John Cho, Margaret Cho, Kimiko Glenn, Robert G. Chiu, Ruthie Ann Miles, Artt Butler and Sandra Oh. Steven Price (Gravity, Our Planet, Suicide Squad) has composed the film’s original score and Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield & Helen Park have written the original songs. Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘Lovecraft Country’ to Be Released
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original series Lovecraft Country. The album features selections of the original score from all episodes of the show’s first season composed by Emmy Award winner Laura Karpman (Step, Set It Up, Why We Hate) and Raphael Saadiq (Underground, Insecure, Black Nativity). Also included are the songs from the horror drama performed by actors Wunmi Mosaku and Jurnee Smollett, as well as Alice Smith’s cover of Nina Simone’s Sinnerman. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 19 and will be available to stream/download here. Lovecraft Country is developed by Misha Green based on Matt Ruff‘s novel of the same name and also stars Jonathan Majors, Aunjanue Ellis, Abbey Lee, Jada Harris and Michael Kenneth Williams.
National Geographic’s ‘The Real Right Stuff’ to Feature Original Score by James Everingham
Disney+ announced this week that National Geographic’s upcoming documentary The Real Right Stuff will feature an original score composed by James Everingham (Heroes, Grand Prix Driver) for Bleeding Fingers Music and produced by Hans Zimmer & Russell Emanuel. The composer’s orchestral score was recorded remotely by a socially distant 44-piece orchestra this past May. The movie is directed by Tom Jennings (Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes) and tells the true story of the nation’s first astronauts, the original Mercury 7. Jennings is also executive producing the 1895 Films production with Simon Raikes (Drain the Oceans).
‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Mondo has announced the full details of the soundtrack release for Vince Gilligan’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dave Porter (Better Call Saul, The Disaster Artist, Preacher, The Blacklist). Also included are the songs from the movie by Chloe X Halle, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jim White (feat. Aimee Mann), Red Snapper and others. The soundtrack is being released exclusively as a limited vinyl edition and is available to order on the label’s website. Sony Classical has previously released a digital single featuring two tracks from Porter’s score earlier this year. No digital release of the full album is currently planned.
Nathan Micay Scoring HBO’s & BBC’s ‘Industry’
EDM producer Nathan Micay has made his television scoring debut on the new HBO original series Industry. The show is created by Mickey Down & Konrad Kay and stars Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela, Harry Lawtey, Nabhaan Rizwan, David Jonsson, Conor MacNeill and Ken Leung. The drama revolves around an ambitious group of graduates as they compete for a limited number of permanent positions at Pierpoint & Co., a leading bank in London, while being thrown head-first into the exhilarating world of international finance. Down & Kay are also executive producing the project with Jane Tranter (Succession, The Night Of), Lachlan MacKinnon (A Discovery of Witches), Ryan Rasmussen (His Dark Materials) and David P. Davis.
Soundtrack Album for Topic’s ‘Release’ Announced
Blue Bonsai Music has released a soundtrack album for the Topic original series Release. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Straight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman, Lady and the Tramp, Project Power, Only the Brave) and Clark Rhee. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Release is co-created and written by Joe Penna (Arctic) & Ryan Morrison and stars Kota Eberhardt, Noah Averbach-Katz, Aunjanue Ellis, Mark Borkouwski, Matthew Lawler and Lana McKissack. The 6-part short series reveals a series of interconnected portraits from the first several months of a fictional pandemic as it strikes the quiet outskirts of an American city.
Soundtrack Albums for Adult Swim’s ‘Tigtone’ to Be Released
WaterTower Music will release the first two soundtrack albums for the Adult Swim original series Tigtone. The albums feature the original music from the show’s first two seasons composed by Leo Birenberg (Cobra Kai, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, PEN15, Son of Zorn, Secret Society of Second-Born Royals).
