Platoon is excited to announce the release of the original soundtrack for Apple Original Films’ “Being Heumann” (Official Trailer) on Friday, November 6th. The soundtracks’ release date coincides with the theatrical release of the film, which stars Ruth Madeley and Mark Ruffalo in Academy Award winning director Siân Heder’s (“CODA”) adaptation of disability rights activist Judy Heumann’s celebrated memoir. “Being Heumann” tells the revolutionary, irreverent and deeply human story of a young disabled woman (Ruth Madeley) and a scrappy coalition of outsiders trying to pull off the impossible and change the lives of millions. The film’s score is composed by celebrated Sicilian-born pianist Francesco Le Metre, and features the London Contemporary Orchestra. Le Metre’s compositions elevate each distinct moment of the film, vacillating between soundscapes that mirror one scene’s fraught intensity, or another’s playful or delicate exploration of the human condition.
“This score lives inside Judy, that’s where I started, her drive, her humanity, her impact,” shares Le Metre of his approach. “Working closely with Siân, I built it with honesty and intention, and every call to action carries a punk rock spirit, the drums fragmented and raw, the strings played with a guitar pick instead of a bow, growing more constructed as the movement itself comes together. Her humanity theme is built from melodies that interweave, ideas feeding into one another rather than resolving. And there’s still room for humor, because joy, laughter, and resilience are just as much a part of this story.”
