Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Spy directed by Jude Law and starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Miranda Hart and Jude Law. The film’s original music is composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Who Can You Trust, which he co-wrote with Craig Wedren and is performed Ivy Levan. Also opening wide is the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 3 directed by Leigh Whannell and starring Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, Steve Coulter, Angus Sampson, Hayley Kiyoko and Ashton Moio, Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Annabelle) who previously scored the first two parts in the series has composed the film’s original music. ‘Infinitely Polar Bear’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the indie comedy drama Infinitely Polar Bear have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film by artists including George Harrison, Ike & Tina Turner, Brenton Wood, Jerry ‘Swamp Dogg’ Williams, Snooks Eaglin, China Forbes, The Doc Watson Family & more. Also included are four tracks from the film’s original score composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Spy, Tropic Thunder, St. Vincent). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 16, 2015 and physically a couple of weeks later. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Infinitely Polar Bear is written and directed by Maya Forbes, produced by J.J. Abrams and stars Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Imogene Wolodarsky, Ashley Aufderheide, Beth Dixon and Keir Dullea.

‘Spy’ Score Album Details

Milan Records will release a score album for Paul Feig’s action comedy Spy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), including the original opening titles song Who Can You Trust written by Shapiro & Craig Wedren and performed by Ivy Levan. The soundtrack will be released on June 2, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Spy stars Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Miranda Hart and Jude Law.

Theodore Shapiro to Score ‘Zoolander 2’

Theodore Shapiro is set to reunite with Ben Stiller on the upcoming comedy sequel Zoolander 2. The film stars Stiller himself in the title role, Owen Wilson who returns as Hansel, Will Ferrell as Mugatu, Christine Taylor as Matilda, as well as new addition Penélope Cruz. Stiller has written the screenplay with Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2) and is also producing the project with Stuart Cornfeld (Dodgeball, Starsky & Hutch, The Fly). Shapiro has previously composed the music for Stiller’s previous two directorial efforts, Tropic Thunder and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the second part in the Divergent series, Insurgent directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Earth to Echo) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as M83 feat. Haim, Imagine Dragons, Royal Blood, Woodkid feat. Lykke Li, Anna Calvi, SOHN and Zella Day, as well as a score suite. Click here for the full details. Also opening wide is the action thriller The Gunman directed by Pierre Morrel, produced by Joel Silver and starring Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca. Marco Beltrami (World War Z, The Hurt Locker, Scream, The Wolverine) has composed the film’s original music. Theodore Shapiro is reteaming with director Karyn Kusama on the upcoming thriller The Invitation. The movie stars Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Lindsay Burdge, John Carroll Lynch, Mike Doyle, Michelle Krusiec, Marieh Delfino and Jay Larson. The film follows a haunted man attending a dinner party who becomes gripped with paranoia that his ex-wife and her new husband are harboring an insidious agenda. Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi (Ride Along, Clash of the Titans, R.I.P.D.) have written the screenplay and are also producing the project with Martha Griffin (Aeon Flux).

Theodore Shapiro has been hired to score the upcoming comedy The Intern. The film is written and directed by Nancy Meyers and stars Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo, Zack Pearlman, Adam DeVine, Reid Scott, Andrew Rannells, Anders Holm, Nat Wolff, Linda Lavin and Christina Scherer. The movie centers on a 70-year-old widower who discovers that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site. Meyers is also producing the film with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Captain Phillips) and Suzanne McNeill Farwell.

Theodore Shapiro & Ryan Adams Scoring Dan Fogelman’s ‘Danny Collins’

Theodore Shapiro and singer/songwriter Ryan Adams have composed the original music for the upcoming comedy drama Danny Collins. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love., Tangled, Bolt, Last Vegas) and stars Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, Josh Peck and Christopher Plummer. The movie follows a rocker who decides to change his life after discovering a letter written to him by John Lennon – prompting him to track down his biological son, whom he’s never met. Fogelman has also written the screenplay. Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam, The Story of Us, Corinna, Corinna) is producing the project with Nimitt Mankad (Today’s Special). The movie also features songs by John Lennon.

Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover). Sony Classical will release a score album for the comedy drama St. Vincent. The album features the film’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Tropic Thunder). St. Vincent is written and directed by Theodore Melfi and stars Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Terrence Howard, Chris O’Dowd and Scott Adsit. The movie follows a cranky war veteran who becomes an unlikely mentor to a 12-year-old boy whose parents have divorced. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select cities on October 10 before expanding nationwide over the following weeks.
