Marco Beltrami is composing the original music for the upcoming thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The film is directed by Joe Berlinger (Brother’s Keeper, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2) and stars Zac Efron as Ted Bundy, alongside Lily Collins, Kaya Scodelario, John Malkovich, Haley Joel Osment, Jim Parsons, Terry Kinney and Dylan Baker. The movie tells the story of serial killer Ted Bunny from the perspective of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, who struggled to accept the reality of her boyfriend’s nature. Michael Werwie wrote the screenplay.

Marco Beltrami & Marcus Trumpp Scoring Jean-François Richet’s ‘The Emperor of Paris’
Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Marcus Trumpp (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, Little Evil) have recently composed the music for the upcoming French historical crime thriller The Emperor of Paris (L’Empereur de Paris). The film is directed by Jean-François Richet (Assault on Precint 13, Blood Father) and stars Vincent Cassel, Olga Kurylenko, August Dhiel, Freya Mavor, Denis Menochet and James Thierée. The movie tells the story of Francois Vidocq, a real-life ex-convict who became a police detective during Napoleon’s reign. Eric Besnard (Babylon A.D.) wrote the screenplay.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Smallfoot directed by Karey Kirkpatrick and starring Channing Tatum, Zendaya, James Corden, Common, LeBron James, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito and Yara Shahidi. The director and Wayne Kirkpatrick have composed the film’s original songs and Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Angry Birds Movie) has composed the film’s original score. 6th Annual Superhero Music Panel at Comic-Con Announced
The line-up of the 6th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel has been announced. The event offers a behind-the-scenes look at the music of today’s biggest superhero film and TV projects with unreleased film clips and never-before-heard music. Participating composers include Marco Beltrami whose superhero movie scoring credits include Logan, The Wolverine, Fantastic Four and Hellboy, Christophe Beck who recently scored Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and previously scored the original Ant-Man movie, as well as Elektra and Tyler Bates who recently scored Deadpool 2 and has also composed the music for the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as the Watchmen film adaptation.

Marco Beltrami & Brandon Roberts are scoring the upcoming adventure thriller Underwater. The film is directed by William Eubank (The Signal) and stars Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick, Mamoudou Athie, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr. and Gunner Wright. The movie follows a crew of underwater researchers who must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. Brian Duffield (Insurgent, Jane Got a Gun) wrote the screenplay.

The full details of the soundtrack album for the horror thriller A Quiet Place have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, Scream, World War Z, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine). The soundtrack is set to be released digitally on April 6 and physically on May 11 by Milan Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Quiet Place is directed by John Krasinski who also stars in the film, alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. The movie follows a family living an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.
‘Mathilde’ Soundtrack Details
MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the Russian drama Mathilde. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, The Hurt Locker, World War Z, Scream, The Wolverine) and performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 16 and will be available to download on Amazon. Quartet Records has announced a CD version to be released in a couple of weeks. Mathilde is directed by Aleksey Uchitel and stars Danila Kozlovsky, Michalina Olszanska and Lars Eidinger. The movie tells the story of the tumultuous romance between the heir to the Russian throne, Nikolai Romanov, and a ballerina of the Imperial Theater, Mathilde Kshesinskaja, from the time they met in 1890 to the coronation of Nikolai and his wife Alexandra Fedorovna in 1896.

Marco Beltrami Scoring National Geographic’s ‘Free Solo’
Marco Beltrami is composing the music for the upcoming National Geographic documentary Free Solo. The film is directed by Jimmy Chin & Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi (Meru) and revolves around rock climber Alex Honnold as he is training on Freerider for the first ever rope-free climb of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Chin & Chai Vasarhelyi are also producing the project with Evan Hayes, Walter Parkes & Laurie MacDonald (Men in Black, The Ring, Flight) and Shannon Dill.
