Premiering tonight is the HBO original mini-series Big Little Lies directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club, Wild), executive produced by David E. Kelley and starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skårsgard, Adam Scott, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling. The show doesn’t feature any original score. Susan Jacobs serves as the project’s music supervisor. CMT’s ‘Sun Records’ to Feature Music by Lyle Workman

Lyle Workman has been tapped to score the upcoming CMT original series Sun Records. The show stars Chad Michael Murray, Billy Gardell, Drake Milligan, Kevin Fonteyne, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Trevor Donovan and Kerry Holliday. The drama based on the book written by Floyd Mutrux & Colin Escott is set in Memphis and depicts the rise of musicians including Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash as the burgeoning civil-rights movement grips the nation. Gil Grant (Painkiller Jane) serves as the series’ showrunner and is also executive producing the Thinkfactory Media production with Leslie Greif (Texas Rising, Funny Money), Jayson Dinsmore (Still the King) and Julia Silverton.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Moana directed by Ron Clements & John Musker and featuring the voices of Auli’i Cravelho and Dwayne Johnson. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Brother Bear, Planes). The composer also co-wrote the movie’s original songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Opetaia Foa’i. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring score & songs in two different editions. Click here for the full album details. Also opening wide is the romantic thriller Allied directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard, Jared Harris, Lizzy Caplan, Simon McBurney, Daniel Betts, Camille Cottin, August Diehl and Matthew Goode. Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away) has composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as jazz classics by Benny Goodman, Louis Primas & more. Lyle Workman Scoring ‘Bad Santa 2’

Lyle Workman is composing the original score for the upcoming comedy Bad Santa 2. The film is directed by Mark Waters and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Kathy Bates, Christina Hendricks, Tony Cox, Brett Kelly, Ryan Hansen, Jenny Zigrino and Jeff Skowron. The movie follows the title character who teams up once again with his angry little sidekick, Marcus, to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. Johnny Rosenthal & Shauna Cross (If I Stay, Whip It) have written the screenplay. Geyer Kosinski (Fargo, Bad News Bears) and Andrew Gunn (Sky High, Bedtime Stories) are producing the project.

Lyle Workman to Score HBO’s ‘Crashing’

Lyle Workman is set to compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series Crashing. The show is executive produced by Peter Holmes & Judd Apatow and also stars Holmes as a comedian who, when his wife leaves him, has nowhere to stay but on the couches of New York’s finest comics. Holmes has written the pilot’s script and Apatow is directing the first episode. Dave Rath, Josh Church and Igor Srubshchik serve as producers and Oren Brimer is co-producing the comedy. Workman has previously scored numerous projects directed and produced by Apatow, including The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad and most recently the Netflix original series Love, which premiered in February and will return for a second season next year.

Soundtrack for Netflix’s ‘Love’ Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the new Netflix original series Love. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Lyle Workman (Superbad, The 40-Year Old Virgin, Win Win, Forgetting Sarah Marshall). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 19, 2016 and physically later this year. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Vinyl created by Terence Winter, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, J. C. MacKenzie, P. J. Byrne, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Paul Ben-Victor. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the show’s first season by artists including Sturgill Simpson (who performs the title song), Ty Taylor, David Johansen, Kaleo, Otis Reeding, Ruth Brown & more. Premiering tomorrow, February 15, is the Hulu mini-series 11.22.63 based on Stephen King’s 2011 novel, adapted by show runner Bridget Carpenter and starring James Franco, Sarah Gadon, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Daniel Webber, Chris Cooper, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, Jack Fulton and Leon Rippy. Executive producer J.J. The comedy follows a nice guy and a brazen wild child as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. Apatow, Rust and Arfin are also executive producing the Legendary Television production with Brent Forrester (The Office).

The 3-hour TV event is based on the best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly and chronicles the life of Jesus of Nazareth through the retelling of the political, social and historical conflicts during the Roman Empire. Fox’s ‘Weird Loners’ to Feature Music by Lyle Workman

Lyle Workman is composing the score for the upcoming Fox comedy Weird Loners. The show is created by Michael J. Weithorn (The King of Queens, Ned and Stacey) and stars Becki Newton, Zachary Knighton, Nate Torrence and Meera Rohit Kumbhani. The series follows four relationship-phobic people who are unexpectedly thrust into each other’s lives and form an unlikely bond in a Queens, New York townhouse. Weithorn is also executive the 20th Century Fox Television Fox production with Melvin Mar (New Girl) and Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Sex Tape) who also directed the pilot episode.
