Lyle Workman has announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming action comedy Stand Up Guys. The film is directed by actor/director Fisher Stevens who received an Academy Award for his documentary The Cove and stars Al Pacino and Christopher Walken as two aging criminals, one of whom has been hired to kill his friend. They decide to enjoy one last night of debauchery, but also face the choices they made in their lives. Alan Arkin, Julianna Margulies, Vanessa Ferlito and Katheryn Winnick are co-starring in the comedy. Noah Hydle has written the script and Sidney Kimmel (The Lincoln Lawyer, Lars and the Real Girl), Gary Lucchessi (Underworld, Crank), Tom Rosenberg (Million Dollar Baby) and Jim Tauber are producing the Simmy Kimmel Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment production.

Lyle Workman Scoring ’21 and Over’
Lyle Workman is the composer of the upcoming comedy 21 and Over. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriters Jon Lucas & Scott Moore (The Hangover, The Change-Up) and centers on a group of friends who drag their straight-arrow buddy out to celebrate his 21st birthday the night before an important medical school interview. The movie’s cast includes Miles Teller (Footloose), Justin Chon (The Twilight Saga), Skylar Astin (Taking Woodstock) and Sarah Wright (The House Bunny). David Hobermann & Todd Lieberman (The Fighter, The Proposal), Andy Yan and Hugo Shong are producing the Relativity Media and Sky Land Entertainment production. 21 and Over marks the first project which partners the US company with an arm of the Chinese government. The comedy was also partially shot in China and is the first of many projects that Relativity plans to shoot and do post-production work in the country.
Lyle Workman to Score ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’
Lyle Workman has announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming magician comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The film is directed by Don Scardino (30 Rock) and features an all-star cast including Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini and Brad Garrett. The movie is set in the world of rival Las Vegas magicians and follows a traditional magic man who is dethroned by a hipper illusionist and then must find a way to rediscover his love for magic. John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses) have written the screenplay based on a story by Chad Kultgen. Carell is also producing the New Line Cinema production with Chris Bender (American Pie, A History of Violence), Tyler Mitchell (Lucky Number Slevin) and J. C. Spink (The Butterfly Effect).

Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring two tracks from the composer’s score, as well as the film’s songs by artists including Good Charlotte, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and Montell Jordan. Already in theaters since Wednesday is James Cameron’s Titanic 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film’s Academy Award-winning music is composed by James Horner. Sony Classical has released a new 4-disc anniversary soundtrack edition featuring a newly-remastered version of the original soundtrack, the album Back to Titanic, as well as a disc of period music recorded for the movie by I Salonisti – the five-piece quintet that appears in the film and a new compilation of songs from the early 1900s. ‘American Reunion’ Soundtrack Details
Relativity Music Group will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the upcoming comedy sequel American Reunion. The album features two tracks from the film’s original score composed by Lyle Workman (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad), as well as the movie’s songs by artists including Good Charlotte, Cobra Starship, Stooshe, Pop Levi, The Blue Van, Kopek, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and Montell Jordan. Lyle Workman to Score ‘American Reunion’
Lyle Workman has signed on to score the upcoming comedy sequel American Reunion. The film reunites the stars of the original 1999 American Pie hit movie, Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Eugene Levy, Tara Reid, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge and Mena Suvari. They are joined by new cast members Katrina Bowden and Dania Ramirez. In the film, the characters of the original movie are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg who have written all three Harold & Kumar movies and directed the last two parts of the series, are writing and directing American Reunion. Craig Perry & Warren Zide (Final Destination) and Chris Moore (The Adjustment Bureau) are producing and original helmers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz are executive producing the comedy. The project marks Workman’s first score for the franchise.
Lyle Workman to Score ‘Fun Size’
Lyle Workman is set to score the upcoming comedy Fun Size. The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer/producer Josh Schwartz who is best known as the creator and showrunner of the TV hit show The O.C., as well as the co-creator of Chuck and Gossip Girl. The movie centers on a teenager who loses her brother after being forced to take him out for trick-or-treating on Halloween. The comedy stars Victoria Justice (Nickelodeon’s Victorious), Chelsea Handler, Riki Lindhome, Johnny Knoxville, Josh Pence, Thomas Mann and Jane Levy. Max Werner (The Colbert Report) wrote the project’s screenplay and Schwartz is also producing alongside Stephanie Savage, Bard Dorros, David Kanter and Michael Beugg.
‘Win Win’ Soundtrack released
Mom and Pop Records has released a soundtrack album for Thomas McCarthy’s comedy drama Win Win. The album features Lyle Workman’s original score, as well as the original song Think You Can Wait by The National. The soundtrack is currently available exclusively on iTunes, but a CD release is planned for next month. For audio clips from all tracks on the album, click here. Win Win starring Paul Giamatti, Melanie Wysnkey, Jeffrey Tambor, Amy Ryan and Bobby Carnivale is currently playing in limited release and expanding into more theaters in the coming weeks.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The sci-fi comedy Paul is directed Greg Mottola and stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig, Jane Lynch, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader and Seth Rogen as the voice of Paul. The film’s original score is composed by David Arnold. A soundtrack release including Arnold’s score, as well as several songs from the movie has already been released in Europe as reported here. The album is scheduled to come out on April 4, 2011 in the US.
Also opening today is Brad Furman’s legal thriller starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, Ryan Phillippe and William H. Macy. Lakeshore Records has released two different soundtracks including Cliff Martinez’ original score, as well as a song album. Visit our previous article for details on both albums. Film Music Reporter has learned that Lyle Workman is the composer of the upcoming comedy Win Win. The movie is written and directed by Thomas McCarthy, who worked with composers Stephen Trask (The Station Agent) and Jan Kaczmarek (The Visitor) on his previous directorial efforts. The film stars Paul Giamatti, Melanie Wysnkey, Jeffrey Tambor, Amy Ryan and Bobby Carnivale. The movie centers around a disheartened attorney, who moonlights as a high school wrestling coach and stumbles across a star athlete through some questionable business dealings while trying to support his family.
