The details of the soundtrack album for the National Geographic original event nature documentary series Lion have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Gladiator, Dune, Inception, Rain Man, Pirates of the Caribbean), Niccolò Pacella & George Hutson Warren and produced by Bleeding Fingers’ Russell Emanuel, with additional vocals from the Nairobi Chamber Chorus. Zimmer, Andrew Christie & Lebo M have written the series’ main theme. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 21 by Hollywood Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The 4-parter chronicles the remarkable four-year journey of a tiny lion cub named Kio as he becomes a king.

National Geographic announced today that Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, Dune, Inception, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rain Man, Man of Steel) has teamed up with Bleeding Fingers Music’s Niccolò Pacella & George Hutson Warren to score the new National Geographic original documentary series Lion. The Nairobi Chamber Chorus has provided additional vocals and Lebo M (The Lion King) & Andrew Christie (Prehistorical Planet, The Americas) have written the theme, alongside Zimmer, for the show, which is narrated by O.J. Lynch and chronicles the remarkable four-year journey of a tiny lion cub named Kio as he becomes a king. Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Elf) who has previously collaborated with Zimmer on 2019’s The Lion King remake is executive producing the project with BBC Studios Natural History Unit’s creative director Mike Gunton (Planet Earth II, Dynasties).

Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Moana directed by Ron Clements & John Musker and featuring the voices of Auli’i Cravelho and Dwayne Johnson. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Brother Bear, Planes). The composer also co-wrote the movie’s original songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Opetaia Foa’i. Sia’s ‘Never Give Up’ from ‘Lion’ Released
Sony Classical has released the original song Never Give Up from Garth Davis’ drama Lion. The track is performed by Sia and produced by Greg Kurstin. The song is now available to download on Amazon and will also be featured on the official soundtrack album alongside the movie’s score by Dustin O’Halloran & Hauschka. Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Lion. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dustin O’Halloran (Transparent, Like Crazy, Breathe In, Equals) and Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) (In Dubious Battle, The Boy). Also included is the original song Never Give Up by Sia. The soundtrack will be released within the next couple of weeks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) are currently scoring the upcoming drama Lion. The film is directed by Garth Davis (Top of the Lake) and stars Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, David Wenham, Divian Ladwa, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Priyanka Bose, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Deepti Naval. The film is based on the book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley and centers on a street kid from Calcutta who is taken in and adopted by a couple in Australia. Luke Davies (Candy, Life) has written the screenplay. Emile Sherman (The King’s Speech, Iain Canning (Shame, Mr. Holmes, Macbeth) and Angie Fielder (Wish You Were Here) are producing the project.
