The details of the soundtrack album for the National Geographic original event nature documentary series Lion have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Gladiator, Dune, Inception, Rain Man, Pirates of the Caribbean), Niccolò Pacella & George Hutson Warren and produced by Bleeding Fingers’ Russell Emanuel, with additional vocals from the Nairobi Chamber Chorus. Zimmer, Andrew Christie & Lebo M have written the series’ main theme. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 21 by Hollywood Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. National Geographic announced today that Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, Dune, Inception, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rain Man, Man of Steel) has teamed up with Bleeding Fingers Music’s Niccolò Pacella & George Hutson Warren to score the new National Geographic original documentary series Lion. The Nairobi Chamber Chorus has provided additional vocals and Lebo M (The Lion King) & Andrew Christie (Prehistorical Planet, The Americas) have written the theme, alongside Zimmer, for the show, which is narrated by O.J. Lynch and chronicles the remarkable four-year journey of a tiny lion cub named Kio as he becomes a king. Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Elf) who has previously collaborated with Zimmer on 2019’s The Lion King remake is executive producing the project with BBC Studios Natural History Unit’s creative director Mike Gunton (Planet Earth II, Dynasties).
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Album Details
The full details of the deluxe edition version of the soundtrack album for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana, Encanto, In the Heights) and produced by Mark Mancina (Twister, Moana, Speed, Tarzan) & Mancina, as well as instrumental versions of the tracks. Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Dave Metzger (Wish, Tarzan & Jane, Brother Bear 2). Lebo M (who provided additional music and performances) and Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, Andor) are also credited on several tracks. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 13 by Walt Disney Records (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download. Lebo M to Compose Original Songs for Gina Prince-Bythewood’s ‘The Woman King’
Sowetan is reporting that Lebo M is composing and producing five original songs for the upcoming historical drama The Woman King. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard, Love & Basketball) and stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch and John Boyega. The movie is set in the Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries, and tells the story of Nanisca, the general of the all-female military unit, and Nawi, an ambitious recruit, who together fought enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
Soundtrack Album for Jon Favreau’s ‘The Lion King’ Announced
Walt Disney Records has announced the official soundtrack album for Jon Favreau’s The Lion King. The album features features new recordings of the original songs written by Elton John and Tim Rice for the 1994 animated classic, the score by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight) who received his first Academy Award for the animated movie, plus African vocal and choir arrangements by Grammy-winning South African producer and composer Lebo M. Also included Pharrell Williams produced five songs on the soundtrack. Also included is the John- & Rice-written original song Never Too Late performed by John, that features an African choir and will appear in the film’s end credits.
