Walt Disney Records has released a third soundtrack album for Barry Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dave Metzger (Wish, Brother Bear 2,Tarzan & Jane) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music, including Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. All score tracks have previously been released as part of the deluxe edition soundtrack, which also includes Lin-Manuel Miranda’s original songs from the movie, last week. The full details of the deluxe edition version of the soundtrack album for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana, Encanto, In the Heights) and produced by Mark Mancina (Twister, Moana, Speed, Tarzan) & Mancina, as well as instrumental versions of the tracks. Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Dave Metzger (Wish, Tarzan & Jane, Brother Bear 2). Lebo M (who provided additional music and performances) and Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, Andor) are also credited on several tracks. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 13 by Walt Disney Records (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download. As previously reported, the standard edition of the soundtrack featuring the songs will be released digitally and physically tomorrow. Also included is a track performed by Lebo M who provided additional music and performances to the project. The soundtrack will be released on December 13 by Walt Disney Records. A separate “deluxe edtion” album featuring the songs and the film’s original score composed by Dave Metzger is also expected to come out this month. ‘Moonlight’ Deluxe 5th Anniversary Edition Box Set Soundtrack Announced
A24 has announced a new soundtrack album for the Academy Award-winning 2016 drama Moonlight written and directed by Barry Jenkins and starring Naomie Harris, Andre Holland, Mahershala Ali, Trevante Rhodes, Janelle Monae, Alex R. Hibbert, Jaden Piner, Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome. The double vinyl deluxe box set includes the Oscar-nominated original score from the movie composed by Nicholas Britell (Succession, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Big Short, Cruella, Don’t Look Up, The Underground Railroad, Cruella, Vice), as well as the songs from the film, including eleven previously unreleased tracks, over 100 pages of never-before published photography, handwritten sheet music from Britell and an essay by Barry Jenkins. The soundtrack is expected to ship this September and is now available for pre-order in A24’s online store.

Barry Jenkins’ ‘The Lion King’ Prequel to Feature Music by Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams & Nicholas Britell
Disney announced today that Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams and Nicholas Britell will provide the music for studios’ upcoming The Lion King prequel. The film will be directed by Barry Jenkins and will use the same photo-realistic technology from last year’s remake directed by Jon Favreau. No casting announcements have been made yet. Zimmer has previously scored the original 1994 animated The Lion King film, as well as last year’s remake and Williams produced several songs from the 2019 movie.
Nicholas Britell to Reteam with Barry Jenkins on Amazon’s ‘The Underground Railroad’
Nicholas Britell confirmed in recent interviews with Soundworks Collection and Deadline that he will be reteaming with director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming Amazon original limited series The Underground Railroad. The show is based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same title and centers on a young slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. When a recent arrival from Virginia tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape. Jenkins will be directing all eleven episodes of the series. No casting announcements have been made yet.
