The full details of the second and third soundtrack albums for the Amazon limited series The Underground Railroad have been revealed. The Volume 2 & 3 albums feature more music from the show composed by Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, Cruella, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Big Short, Vice, Battle of the Sexes). Premiering tomorrow, May 10, is the HBO documentary The Crime of the Century directed by Alex Gibney and executive produced by Richard Perello, Todd Hoffman & Aaron Fishman about the origins, extent, and fallout of the opioid crisis in the United States. Nicholas Britell to Reteam with Barry Jenkins on Amazon’s ‘The Underground Railroad’
Nicholas Britell confirmed in recent interviews with Soundworks Collection and Deadline that he will be reteaming with director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming Amazon original limited series The Underground Railroad. The show is based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same title and centers on a young slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. When a recent arrival from Virginia tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape. Jenkins will be directing all eleven episodes of the series. No casting announcements have been made yet.
