Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Netflix limited series Halston. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Emmy Award winner Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, Hollywood, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel, Cabin Fever, The Great). Also included are three songs performed by Krysta Rodriguez who stars in the drama as Liza Minnelli. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 14 and will be available to stream/download here. Halston is created by Sharr White and stars Ewan McGregor, Bill Pullman, Rebecca Dayan, Krysta Rodriguez, Rory Culkin, Vera Farmiga, Gian Franco Rodriguez, Sullivan Jones, Kelly Bishop, Dilone, Jason Kravits, James Waterston and Mary Beth Peil. The 5-parter executive produced by Ryan Murphy tells the untold story of the meteoric rise and fall of the first American celebrity fashion designer.

Premiering tomorrow, May 10, is the HBO documentary The Crime of the Century directed by Alex Gibney and executive produced by Richard Perello, Todd Hoffman & Aaron Fishman about the origins, extent, and fallout of the opioid crisis in the United States. The original music for the 2-parter is composed by Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Marco Polo, The Night Listener, Totally Under Control, Bee Season, Book Club). Premiering on Wednesday, May 12, is the Netflix original film Oxygen directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Mélanie Laurent, Mathieu Amalric and Malik Zidi. Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Gretel & Hansel, Revenge, Troy: Fall of a City, Amityville: The Awakening, Planetarium) has composed the movie’s original music. Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel, Cabin Fever) is the composer of the new Netflix limited series Halston. The show is created by Sharr White (Generation) and stars Ewan McGregor, Bill Pullman, Rebecca Dayan, David Pittu, Krysta Rodriguez, Rory Culkin, Vera Farmiga, Sullivan Jones, Gian Franco Rodriguez, Kelly Bishop, Dilone, James Waterston, Jason Kravits and Mary Beth Peil. The 5-part drama follows the titular legendary fashion designer as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status and fame, defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York, before his life starts to spin out of control.
‘Halston’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Node Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Halston. The album features the film’s original music composed by Grammy Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Stanley Clarke (Boyz n the Hood, The Transporter, Passenger 57, Romeo Must Die, Undercover Brother). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 7 and will be available to download here. A CD version is set to come out on July 26 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Halston is directed by Frédéric Tcheng and tells the story of America’s first superstar designer who rose to international fame in the 1970s, creating an empire and personifying the dramatic social and sexual revolution of the last century.

Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar. The film’s original score is composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as all songs from movie, including a new song written by Menken and featuring lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. Also opening wide is the coming-of-age comedy Booksmart directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein, Jessica Williams, Will Forte, Lisa Kudrow and Jason Sudeikis. Hip hop producer Dan the Automator has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score. Stanley Clarke (Boyz n the Hood, Passenger 57, The Transporter, The Best Man) is composing the original score for the upcoming documentary Halston. The film is directed by Frédéric Tcheng (Dior and I, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel) and tells the story of America’s first superstar fashion designer. The movie uncovers the cautionary tale of an artist who sold his name to Wall Street and was responsible for many iconic moments in American fashion and culture in the ’70s and ’80s.
