The details of the soundtrack album for the National Geographic original event nature documentary series Lion have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Gladiator, Dune, Inception, Rain Man, Pirates of the Caribbean), Niccolò Pacella & George Hutson Warren and produced by Bleeding Fingers’ Russell Emanuel, with additional vocals from the Nairobi Chamber Chorus. Zimmer, Andrew Christie & Lebo M have written the series’ main theme. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 21 by Hollywood Records. Check back on this page for the streaming/download link. Lion is narrated by O.J. Lynch and executive produced by Jon Favreau and BBC Studios Natural History Unit’s creative director Mike Gunton. The 4-parter chronicles the remarkable four-year journey of a tiny lion cub named Kio as he becomes a king. The series is premiering tonight on National Geographic and will also be available to stream tomorrow on Disney+ and Hulu tomorrow, August 20.
