Ludwig Göransson has been tapped to score the upcoming boxing drama Creed. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Anthony Bellew. Stallone stars in his iconic role as Rocky Balboa who acts a trainer for the grandson of Apollo Creed, portrayed by Carl Weathers in 1976’s original Rocky film. Coogler has also co-written the screenplay with Aaron Covington. Robert Chartoff (Rocky series, Ender’s Game, The Gambler) is producing the project with Irwin Winkler (Goodfellas, The Right Stuff, Life as a House), Charles and David Winkler & William Chartoff (The Mechanic), Stallone and Kevin King Templeton (The Expendables, Rambo).

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings directed by Ridley Scott and starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, John Turturro, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed by Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener) Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as a couple of tracks written by additional composers Harry Gregson-Williams and Federico Jusid. Also opening wide is the comedy Top Five written and directed by Chris Rock and starring himself, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, JB Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Anders Holm, Romany Malco and Leslie Jones. Questlove and Ludwig Goransson have composed the film’s original score. Def Jam Recording has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film by artists including Jay Z & Kanye West, DMX, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, The Roots, Rakim and Salt-N-Pepa. Two new movies are opening this weekend:
Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday and opening nationwide today is the sci-fi drama Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Gladiator). The film’s original music is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Attack the Block, The World’s End). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Premiering on Tuesday, September 30, on ABC is the new comedy Manhattan Love Story created by Jeff Lowell (John Tucker Must Die) and starring Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper and Kurt Fuller. The show’s original music is composed by Alec Puro (The Fosters, The Art of Getting By, The First Time). Also premiering on Tuesday on ABC is the new comedy Selfie created by Emily Kapnek and starring Karen Gillan, John Cho, Tim Peper, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Allyn Rachel and David Harewood. Jared Faber (Suborgatory, As Told by Ginger) is composing the show’s original music. Selfie follows a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. Premiering tonight on PBS is the documentary The Roosevelts: An Intimate Portrait directed by Ken Burns about the lives of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, three members of the most prominent and influential family in American politics. The docu-series, which features the voices of Meryl Streep and Paul Giamatti as Eleanor & Theodore Roosevelt will air for two hours a night on seven consecutive nights on PBS. Ludwig Göransson to Score Fox’s ‘Red Band Society’ and Starz’s ‘Survivor’s Remorse’
Ludwig Göransson has been hired to score the upcoming Fox dramedy Red Band Society. The show is created by Margaret Nagle (Boardwalk Empire) based on the Spanish TV series Polseres vermelles and stars Octavia Spencer, Dave Annable, Griffin Gluck, Nolan Sotillo, Charlie Rowe and Brian Bradley. The coming-of-age comedy drama follows the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital’s pediatric ward who become unlikely friends. Steven Spielberg is producing the ABC Studios and Amblin Television production with Justin Falvey & Darryl Frank (The Americans, Falling Skies, Under the Dome) and Sergio Aguero (No Reservations, Quarantine).
Ludwig Göransson & Questlove to Score Chris Rock’s ‘Top Five’
Ludwig Göransson and Questlove have been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Top Five. The film is written and directed by Chris Rock who also stars in the movie alongside Rosario Dawson, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm and Michael Che. The movie tells the story of a New York City comedian-turned-film star whose unexpected encounter with a journalist forces him to confront both the career that made him famous and the life he left behind. Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Captain Phillips) is producing the project with Eli Bush.

Premiering tonight is the new Lifetime original series The Lottery created by Timothy J. Sexton (Children of Men) and starring Marley Shelton, Michael Graziadei, David Alpay, Athena Karkanis, Yul Vasquez, Shelley Conn and Martin Donovan. The show’s original music is composed by Jeff Cardoni (Just Friends, CSI: Miami, Step Up: All In). The Lottery is set 25 years in the future when the human race faces extinction and when women stop having children. When a number of fertilized embryos are discovered, a national lottery is setup to help decide the surrogates. The show will air every Sunday night on Lifetime. Ludwig Goransson Scoring Joe Carnahan’s ‘Stretch’
Ludwig Goransson is composing the score for the upcoming action comedy thriller Stretch. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, James Badge Dale and Ray Liotta. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck chauffeur who is looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back. Carnahan is also producing the project with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge) for Blumhouse Pictures. Tracy Falco (Lions for Lambs) is executive producing. The director has previously collaborated with composers including Cliff Martinez (Narc), Clint Mansell (Smokin’ Aces), Alan Silvestri (The A-Team) and Marc Streitenfeld (The Grey).
