John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space, The Following) has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller Cadaver. The film is directed by Diederik Van Rooijen (Daylight, Taped) and stars Shay Mitchell, Stana Katic, Grey Damon, Louis Herthum, Nick Thune, Max McNamara, Jacob Ming-Trent and Kirby Johnson. The movie follows a disgraced ex-cop and recovering addict who must take a graveyard shift at the morgue in the hospital where she got sober and begins to witness terrorizing and violent murders shortly after a mysterious and brutally massacred body is delivered to the morgue.

Opening in mos theater is the disaster movie Geostorm directed by Dean Devlin and starring Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Daniel Wu, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia. The album features the film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Genius, Home, Terminator Genisys, Megamind). Premiering tonight is the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War directed by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and David Cieri have composed the show’s original score. Universal Music have released two soundtrack albums, including an album featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score, as well as a separate album featuring the songs from the series by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel & more. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow is the British mini-series The State written and directed by Peter Kosminsky and starring Sam Otto, Ryan McKen, Shavani Cameron, Ony Uhiara and Nana Agyeman-Bediako. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wolf Hall, Father Brown, Vampire Killers). The show centers on the lives of four British citizens who join ISIS in Syria. John Frizzell Scoring Cinemax’s ‘Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus’
John Frizzell is reteaming with Mike Judge on the new Cinemax original series Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus. The animated series is created Judge (Silicon Valley, King of the Hill), Richard Mullins & Dub Cornett and recounts the raucous adventures of country music’s most legendary artists, including Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Lee Lewis, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings and Blaze Foley, as told by those who knew them best. Judge & Cornett are also executive producing the project with Glen Zipper (Undefeated) and Sean Stuart (All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records).

Madison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller When the Bough Breaks. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space, The Following, Gods and Generals). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 2 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. When the Bough Breaks is directed by Jon Cassar and stars Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, Michael K. Williams, Theo Rossi and Jaz Sinclair. The movie follows a professional couple that is unable to conceive a child and decides to hire a young blue collar woman as a surrogate, before she develops a psychotic fixation on the husband.
John Frizzell to Score ‘Leatherface’
John Frizzell has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface. The film is directed by Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury (Inside) and stars Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, Sam Strike and Vanessa Grasse. The movie centers on a teenage Leatherface as he escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Seth M. Sherwood has written the screenplay. Christa Campbell & Lati Grobman (Criminal, Righteous Kill), Carl Mazzocone and Les Weldon (The Expendables, London Has Fallen) are producing the Millennium Films production.

Opening in most theaters is the found footage adventure Project Almanac directed by Dean Israelite, produced by Michael Bay and starring Jonny Weston, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista, Allen Evangelista, Ginny Gardner and Ginny Gardner. The movie doesn’t feature an original score, but several songs by artists including Imagine Dragons who also appear in the film. No soundtrack album has been announced. Project Almanac follows a brilliant high school student and his friends who uncover blueprints for a mysterious device with limitless potential, inadvertently putting lives in danger.
