La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1996 animated feature Beavis and Butt-Head Do America directed by Mike Judge and starring himself, Demi Moore ,Bruce Willis, Robert Stack and Cloris Leachman. The album features the film’s expanded and remastered original score composed by John Frizzell (Office Space, Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, The Following, Legion), including previously unreleased music and alternate cues. The CD, which is limited to 1,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. Milan Records has previously released the original score album, while Geffen Records has released the official 1996 soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie.

John Frizzell Tapped as Composer of Netflix’s ‘Space Force’ Season 2
John Frizzell (Office Space, Alien: Resurrection,Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, The Following, Legion) is the new composer of the Netflix original series Space Force. He has recently scored the second season of the show created by Steve Carell & Greg Daniels (The Office) and starring Carell himself, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang and Don Lake. The new season picks up with General Naird and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges.
‘Dante’s Peak’ & ‘Love Field’ Deluxe Edition Soundtracks Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD Club series, including a deluxe edition soundtrack for the 1997 disaster thriller Dante’s Peak directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Pierce Brosnan, Linda Hamilton and Charles Hallahan. The album features the expanded original score from the Universal Pictures production composed by John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Office Space, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, The Following, Legion). James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, The Sixth Sense, King Kong, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) contributed the theme. Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the animated sequel The Croods: A New Age directed by Joel Crawford and starring Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Mann, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, Cloris Leachman, Peter Dinklage and Kelly Marie Tran. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, THE LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, Hotel Transylvania). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Feel The Thunder performed by HAIM. Opening in select theaters and on VOD this week is the biographical drama Stardust co-written and directed by Gabriel Range and starring Johnny Flynn, Jena Malone, Marc Maron, Anthony Flanagan, Aaron Poole, Derek Moran, Julian Richings and Monica Parker. Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Calibre, This Beautiful Fantastic, Lost Girls, The Pale Horse) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. ‘Zappa’ Soundtrack Album Details
Universal Music will release the official soundtrack album for the documentary Zappa. The album features the songs from the movie by the film’s subject, Frank Zappa, and his band The Mothers of Invention and others. Also included is the film’s original score composed by John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space, Dante’s Peak, The Following, Beavis and Butthead Do America) who also serves as a producer on the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 27 and will be available to stream/download here. A 3-CD version (and a vinyl edition) is set to come out on February 19 and is available to order on Amazon. Zappa is directed by Alex Winter and explores the private life behind the mammoth musical career that never shied away from the political turbulence of its time. The movie features appearances by Zappa’s widow Gail and several of his musical collaborators including Mike Keneally, Ian Underwood, Steve Vai, Pamela Des Barres & others.

Premiering in the U.S. today is the mini-series War of the Worlds created by Howard Overman based on H.G. Wells’ novel of the same name and starring Gabriel Byrne, Elizabeth McGovern, Léa Drucker, Adel Bencherif, Emilie de Preissac, Natasha Little, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Ty Tennant. The show’s original music is composed by David Martijn (De Dag, The Twelve). The 8-parter, which follows a group of astronomers detect a transmission from another galaxy, premiered in Europe last fall, is making its U.S. debut on Epix. John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space, Beavis and Butthead Do America) is composing the original score for the new Fox animated comedy Duncanville. The show is created by Mike Scully (The Simpsons), Julie Scully & Amy Poehler and stars Poehler herself, Ty Burrell, Riki Lindhome, Betsy Sodaro, Yassir Lester and Zach Cherry. Rashida Jones, Wiz Khalifa and Joy Osmanski are guest starring. The series centers around a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life, and the people in his world. Mike and Julie Scully & Poehler are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television, Universal Television and FOX Entertainment production with Dave Becky (Master of None, Baskets).

Premiering on Friday, November 2 is the new Amazon original series Homecoming created by Eli Horowitz & Micah Bloomberg, directed by Sam Esmail and starring Julia Roberts, Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James, Shea Whigham, Jeremy Allen White, Alex Karpovsky, Sissy Spacek, Dermot Mulroney, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Hong Chau. The show doesn’t feature an original score. Maggie Phillips serves as the project’s music supervisor. The full first season of the show, which follows a caseworker who helps soldiers transition back to civilian life, will be available to stream on Friday on Amazon Prime.

John Frizzell is scoring the new CBS All Access original series Tell Me a Story. The show is created by Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson’s Creek, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and stars James Wolk, Billy Magnussen, Dania Ramirez, Danielle Campbell, Paul Wesley and Kim Cattrall. The psychological thriller is set in modern-day New York City and interweaves The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretel into a tale of love, loss, greed, revenge, and murder.
