Aska Matsumiya is composing the original music for the new HBO original series Betty. The show is based on Crystal Moselle’s feature Skate Kitchen and stars Dede Lovelace, Moonbear, Nina Moran, Ajani Russell and Rachelle Vinberg who are reprising their characters from the movie. The drama follows a diverse group of young women navigate their lives through the male-dominated world of skateboarding in New York City. Moselle is directing all six episodes of the show’s first season and is also executive producing the Arfy Material and Untitled Entertainment production with Lesley Arfin (Love), Igor Srubshchik (Master of None, Crashing) and Jason Weinberg (Lovelace).

Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘Bad Education’ to Be Released
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the comedy drama Bad Education. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, See You Yesterday, All Day and a Night). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 24 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Bad Education is directed by Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds) and stars Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, Rafael Casal, Ray Romano, Geraldine Viswanathan and Alex Wolff. The movie tells the story of an infamous school-larceny scandal that rocked Long Island in the early aughts and revolves around the school superintendent and his assistant who are credited with bringing Roslyn School District unprecedented prestige.

First Songs from HBO’s ‘Insecure’ Season 4 Soundtrack Released
Raedio and Atlantic Records have released the first songs from the fourth season of the HBO original series Insecure. Available now as digital singles are Cautious Clay’s Reaching (feat. Gustavo Santaolalla to Score HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ TV Series
Video Game creative director Neil Druckmann announced on Twitter that Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, 21 Grams, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Book of Life) is attached to compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series The Last of Us. The show based the PlayStation video game of the same title developed by Naughty Dog, which takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed and follows a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, The Hangover Part II & III) is writing the TV show and will also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Druckmann, Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones, Treme) and Naughty Dog president of game development Evan Wells.

Cristobal Tapia de Veer Scoring HBO’s & Sky’s ‘The Third Day’
Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The Girl with All the Gifts, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, National Treasure) is scoring the upcoming HBO and Sky limited series The Third Day. The show is created by Dennis Kelly and stars Jude Law, Naomie Harris, Katherine Waterston, Emily Watson and Paddy Considine. The drama consists of three interconnected stories, including the tale of a man who is drawn to a mysterious Island off the British coast where he encounters a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost. Kelly (Black Sea) is also executive producing the Sky Studios and Plan B Entertainment production with Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight) and Felix Barrett.
