Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Netflix animated event series Maya and the Three. The album features the original music from the show, including the themes composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, 21 Grams) and selections of the original score written by Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, October 22 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Two first tracks (Maya’s Theme by Santaolalla and The Tecas Ride by Davies) are already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. Maya and the Three is created, executive produced and directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez and features the voice talent of Zoe Saldaña, Gabriel Iglesias, Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Alfred Molina, Rita Moreno, Stephanie Beatriz, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah and Wyclef Jean.

Soundtrack Album for Amazon’s ‘El Cid’ Released
Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish Amazon original series El Cid. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first two seasons composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, 21 Grams) & Alfonso G. Aguilar (Klaus, Perdida, You Shall Not Sleep, O21). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. El Cid is created by José Velasco & Luis Arranz and stars Jaime Lorente, Álvaro Rico, Jaime Olías, Alicia Sanz, Juan Echanove and Amparo Alcazar. The historical drama tells the story of the legendary medieval war hero, whose deeds inspired one of the most important of medieval Spanish epic poems, El Cantar de Mio Cid.
Gustavo Santaolalla & Tim Davies to Compose Music for Netflix’s ‘Maya and the Three’
Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, 21 Grams) & Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) have teamed up to compose the music for the upcoming Netflix animated limited series Maya and the Three. Santaolalla is providing the themes and Davies is composing the original score for the show created, executive produced and directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez. The 9-parter tells the story of a warrior princess who embarks on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy and save humanity from the vengeful gods of the underworld.

Warner Records has released the original song Valley of Last Resort from the documentary Freak Power: The Ballot or the Bomb. The track is written and performed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Book of Life) & Grammy Award winner Gary Clark Jr. and features lyrics by Academy Award winner Paul Williams (The Muppet Movie, A Star Is Born). Freak Power is directed by Daniel Joseph Watkins & Ajax Phillips and follows outlaw journalist Hunter S. Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Book of Life) has recently scored the upcoming Hulu horror anthology series Monsterland. The show is created by Mary Laws (The Neon Demon) based on the collection of stories from Nathan Ballingrud’s North American Lake Monsters and stars Kaitlyn Dever, Taylor Schilling, Mike Colter, Kelly Marie Tran, Jonathan Tucker, Nicole Beharie, Adepero Oduye, Roberta Colindrez, Charlie Tahan and Hamish Linklater. The drama follows a group of broken people driven to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives and will feature encounters with mermaids, fallen angels, and a variety of other mythical creatures and horrors.
