Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, 21 Grams, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Book of Life) has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi drama BIOS. The film is directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones, Repo Men) and stars Tom Hanks, Caleb Landry Jones, Samira Wiley, Laura Harrier and Skeet Ulrich. The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows an ailing inventor who builds a robot to keep his beloved dog safe and embarks upon an epic cross-country journey to teach his creation to become “human.” Craig Luck and Ivor Powell wrote the screenplay.

Gustavo Santaolalla to Score HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ TV Series
Video Game creative director Neil Druckmann announced on Twitter that Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, 21 Grams, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Book of Life) is attached to compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series The Last of Us. The show based the PlayStation video game of the same title developed by Naughty Dog, which takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed and follows a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, The Hangover Part II & III) is writing the TV show and will also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Druckmann, Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones, Treme) and Naughty Dog president of game development Evan Wells.
Gustavo Santaolalla’s ‘Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars’ Score to Be Released
Sony Classical will release a score album for the documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Book of Life, The Motorcycle Diaries, 28 Grams). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow and will be available to download on Amazon. Universal Music has previously released a soundtrack album featuring Clapton’s songs from the movie. Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars is directed by Lili Fini Zanuck and takes a look into the life of the legendary 18-time Grammy Award winning guitarist and multi-million selling recording artist.

Premiering tomorrow, November 12, is the second season of the National Geographic original series Mars created by Ben Young Mason & Justin Wilkes and starring JiHAE, Alberto Ammann, Clémentine Poidatz, Esai Morales and Jeff Hephner. The show’s original music is composed by Brian Reitzell (Friday Night Lights, Hannibal, American Gods, Boss) who is taking over scoring duties from Nick Cave & Warren Ellis who scored the drama’s first season. Premiering on Tuesday, November 13 is DreamWorks Animation Television’s new series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power developed by Noelle Stevenson based on the classic 1980s show and starring Aimee Carrero, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka, Marcus Scribner, Reshma Shetty and Lorraine Toussaint. Sunna Wehrmeijer (Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz) is the show’s composer. The show, which revolves around soldier Adora as she finds a magic sword – and her identity as legendary hero She-Ra, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Kevin Kiner & Gustavo Santaolalla Scoring Netflix’s ‘Narcos’ Season 4
Kevin Kiner and Gustavo Santaolalla are the new composers of the Netflix original series Narcos. They are scoring the fourth season of the show, which will star Michael Peña, Diego Luna, Tenoch Huerta, Joaquin Cosio, Jose Maria Yazpik, Teresa Ruiz and Alyssa Diaz. The new season is set in Mexico and will explore the Guadalajara cartel. Showrunner Eric Newman (Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead) is executive producing the series with show creators Jose Padilha (RoboCop, 7 Days in Entebbe), Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard.

Also included is a song by Marvin Jouno. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 3, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Tout nous sépare is co-written and directed by Thierry Klifa who previously collaborated with Santaolalla on My Mother’s Eyes and stars Catherine Deneuve, Diane Kruger, Nicolas Duvauchelle and Nekfeu.
Gustavo Santaolalla Scoring ‘Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars’
Gustavo Santaolalla has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars. The film is directed by Lili Fini Zanuck (Rush, producer of Driving Miss Daisy and Cocoon) and traces the guitar virtuoso’s career through The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, and his solo years, telling the stories behind hits like For Your Love, Layla, and Tears in Heaven. The movie features extensive archival performances and home movies, which are accompanied by audio interviews with Clapton and people who played central roles in his life, including his grandmother Rose Clapp, George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ahmet Ertegun and his former wife, Pattie Boyd.
