Premiering tomorrow, September 19, is the new NBC comedy The Good Place created by Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation) and starring Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Jameela Jamil, William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden. The show’s original music is composed by David Schwartz (Arrested Development, Northern Exposure, Reaper, Lady Dynamite). Also premiering tomorrow is the CBS comedy Kevin Can Wait created by Bruce Helford, Rock Reuben & Kevin James and starring James himself, Erinn Hayes, Taylor Spreitler, Ryan Cartwright, Mary-Charles Jones, James DiGiacomo, Leonard Earl Howze, Gary Valentine and Lenny Venito. Raney Shockne (The To Do List, Anger Management, Queen of the South) is composing the show’s original music. Fil Eisler is composing the music for the new ABC drama Notorious. The show is created by Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) & Allie Hagan and stars Piper Perabo, Daniel Sunjata, Sepideh Moafi, Kate Jennings Grant, Ryan Guzman, Kevin Zegers, J. August Richards and Aimee Teegarden. The series is inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker and looks at the interplay of the worlds of criminal law and the media.

Fil Eisler to Score ‘The Titan’

Fil Eisler has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi drama The Titan. The film is directed by Lennart Ruff and stars Sam Worthington, Taylor Schilling, Tom Wilkinson, Diego Boneta, Aleksander Jovanovic and Agyness Deyn. The movie follows a military family who are relocated in order to take part in a ground-breaking experiment of man’s genetic evolution into space. Max Hurwitz (Hell on Wheels) has written the screenplay based on an original story by Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco, Erased). Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, Midnight Special) is producing the project with Ben Pugh & Rory Aitken (Welcome to the Punch, Monsters: Dark Continent) and Amel.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters this weekend is the comic book movie Deadpool directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein and Brianna Hildebrand. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by WHAM!, Salt-N-Pepa, DMX & more. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Zoolander 2 directed by Ben Stiller and starring himself, Penelope Cruz, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, Marley & Me, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Trumbo). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally today. A CD version will be released next month. ‘How to Be Single’ Soundtrack Details

WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the romantic comedy How to Be Single. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Fifth Harmony, Nick Waterhouse, Avicii, Charli XCX, K7, Rumor, The Arcs, Phoebe Ryan, Hailee Steinfeld & more. Also included is a track from the film’s original score composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, UnReal, Shameless). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 5, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. How to Be Single is directed by Christian Ditter and stars Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Damon Wayans, Jr., Alison Brie, Anders Holm, Nicholas Braun, Jake Lacy, Jason Mantzoukas and Leslie Mann.

Fil Eisler to Score Dax Shepard’s ‘CHiPs’

Fil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic television series CHiPs. The film is written and directed by Dax Shepard and stars himself as highway patrolman Jon Baker, alongside Michael Pena as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, as well as Kristen Bell, Rosa Salazar, Adam Brody, Jane Kaczmarek and Vincent D’Onofrio. The action comedy follows two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers as they make their rounds on the freeways of Los Angeles. Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers, Earth to Echo, When in Rome) is producing the project alongside Shepard’s Primate Pictures company (Hit and Run).

Fil Eisler has been hired to score the upcoming romantic comedy How to Be Single. The film is directed by Christian Ditter (Love, Rosie, French for Beginners) and stars Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Damon Wayans, Jr., Alison Brie, Anders Holm, Nicholas Braun, Jake Lacy, Jason Mantzoukas and Leslie Mann. The movie centers on a woman living in New York and searching for love. Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein (The Vow, He’s Just Not That Into You, Never Been Kissed) and Dana Fox (Couples Retreat, What Happens in Vegas) have written the screenplay based on the book by Liz Tucillo (Sex & the City).

The film’s original music is composed by Rob Simonsen ((500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now, The Age of Adaline, Foxcatcher). No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening wide is the political comedy drama Our Brand Is Crisis directed by David Gordon Green and starring Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Mackie, Joaquim de Almeida, Ann Dowd, Scoot McNairy and Zoe Kazan. Jeff Russo, Sean Callery, Fil Eisler & More to Discuss TV Music at SCL Events

Tonight, the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) will be hosting the composer panel Composing Combos. The event will feature a conversation with Jeff Russo (Fargo, Power, CSI: Cyber) & cellist Zoë Keating who have co-scored the first season of A&E’s The Returned, as well as James Levine (Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story) & Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) who are co-scoring the TNT hit series The Last Ship. Both combos will discuss the unique process of combining creative visions while working together to score television shows.

Premiering tomorrow, June 2, is the ABC drama The Whispers created by Soo Hugh, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Lily Rabe, Barry Sloane, Derek Webster, Milo Ventimiglia, Brianna Brown, Kylie Rogers, Kyle Harrison Breitkopf and Catalina Deni. The show’s original music is composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Last Resort, The Unit). The Whispers is based on the short story Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury and chronicles the race against the clock to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to achieve world domination using the planet’s most unlikely resource: the children. Also premiering tomorrow is the Lifetime original series UnReal created by Marti Noxon & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and starring Shiri Appleby, Constance Zimmer, Craig Bierko, Freddie Stroma, Josh Kelly and Nathalie Kelley. Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, Shameless) has composed the show’s original music. UnReal is based on Shapiro’s short Sequin Raze and follows a young staff member on a hit competition dating show who does everything she can to help please the show’s executive producer.
