Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Enola Holmes, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Birds of Prey) is returning to score the upcoming (currently untitled) sequel to the Black Mirror episode USS Callister. Netflix announced today that returning cast members include Cristin Milioti (as Nanette Cole), Milanka Brooks (as Elena Tulaska), Billy Magnussen (as Valdack), Osy Ikhile (as Nate Packer), Paul G. Raymond (as Kabir Dudani) and Jimmi Simpson (as James Walton). Pemberton is also scoring another (to be announced) episode of the next Black Mirror season. The composer received his first Emmy Award nomination for his score for the original Season 4 episode in 2018.

Daniel Pemberton Scoring National Geographic’s ‘Endurance’ Documentary
Composer Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Enola Holmes, Steve Jobs, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Ocean’s 8, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) is reteaming with directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, Nyad) on the upcoming documentary Endurance. The film is directed by Vasarhelyi & Chin and Natalie Hewit and centers on the titular ship that sank near Antarctica in 1915, with explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew miraculously surviving, and was discovered in 2022.

Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Enola Holmes, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Ocean’s 8,The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Being the Ricardos) is set to score the upcoming animated sequel The Bad Guys 2. The film is directed by Pierre Perifel (who previously helmed the original film) and features the voices of Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Alex Borstein and Lilly Singh. The DreamWorks Animation production follows the crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws as they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals.
Daniel Pemberton & Metro Boomin Win Annie Award for ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’
Daniel Pemberton & Metro Boomin were honored with their first Annie Award in Feature category for their music from Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at tonight’s 51st Annie Awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Pemberton composed the movie’s score, while Metro Boomin served as the executive producer of the film’s soundtrack, which was released by Republic Records. Pemberton’s score was released by Sony Classical. The other contenders in the category were Thomas Newman for Elemental, Kazuma Jinnouchi & RADWIMPS for Suzume, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Joe Hisaishi for The Boy and the Heron.

Madison Gate Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series The Afterparty. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Enola Holmes, Ocean’s 8, Birds of Prey) and David Schweitzer (Emma, Our Great National Parks, Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King). Also included is cast members John Cho’s, Zoë Chao’s & Poppy Liu’s cover of Doris Day’s Sentimental Journey, the cover version of Hanson’s MMMBop from this week’s episode Isabel, as well as several tracks by Ed Mitchell & Steve Morrell.
