Walt Disney Records has released the digital soundtrack album for Pixar’s animated feature Soul. The album features both the film’s original score composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, Gone Girl, Mank), as well as the original jazz compositions and arrangements by Jon Batiste. Also included are the songs Rappin Ced performed by Daveed Diggs, Parting Ways performed by Cody ChesnuTT, as well as Batiste’s cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. As announced last week, the label is also releasing two separate vinyl editions featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score and Batiste’s jazz music today. Also being released separately today as a digital single is a duet version of It’s All Right by Batiste feat. Celeste (click here to stream/download the track). ‘Soul’ Score Album Details
Walt Disney Records has announced the full details of the score album for the Pixar animated feature Soul. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winners Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, Mank, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The soundtrack will be released on vinyl next Friday, December 18 and is now available to pre-order here. A digital version, which features both the score and Jon Batiste’s jazz compositions and arrangements, which is also being released separately as a vinyl edition, will be coming out on the same day. The streaming/download link will be added to this article within the next week. Soul is directed by Pete Docter and features the voices of Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Daveed Diggs, Phylicia Rashad, Tina Fey and Jamie Foxx.
‘Mank’ Soundtrack Album Details
The Null Corporation will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original film Mank. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Academy Award winners Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, Watchmen, Soul, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Patriots Day). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 4 and will be available to stream/download here. Mank is directed by David Fincher and stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Charles Dance, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Pelphrey, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tuppence Middleton, Tom Burke, Joseph Cross, Jamie McShane, Toby Leonard Moore and Monika Gossmann. The drama follows social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane for Orson Welles.

The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror comedy Freaky co-written and directed by Christopher Landon and starring Kathryn Newton, Vince Vaughn, Celeste O’Connor, Katie Finneran, Dana Drori, Misha Osherovich, Uriah Shelton and Alan Ruck. The film’s original music is composed by Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Happy Death Day, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select theaters today is the comdedy The Climb co-written and directed by Michael Angelo Covino and starring Covino himself, alongside Kyle Marvin, Gayle Rankin, Talia Balsam, George Wendt and Judith Godréche. Jon Natchez & Martin Mabz have composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows two lifelong friends who are out for a bike ride through the mountains in the South of France when one of them confesses that he slept with the other’s fiancé premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released stateside by Sony Pictures Classics.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Win Emmy Award for ‘Watchmen’
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have won their first Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score) for their score for the episode It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice from the HBO original series Watchmen at today’s fourth night of the Creative Emmy Awards. Nathan Barr received his first Primetime Emmy Award in the Original Main Title Theme Music category for Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series Hollywood and Labrinth was honored with his first Emmy in the Outstanding Music and Lyrics category for the original song All For Us from HBO’s Euphoria. Robin Urdang, Daniel Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino won the Award in the Outstanding Music Supervision category for Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Trent Reznor has confirmed in a recent interview with Revolver that he is teaming up with Atticus Ross to score the upcoming Netflix original movie Mank. The film is directed by David Fincher and stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Charles Dance, Tuppence Middleton, Arliss Howard, Ferdinand Kingsley, Jamie McShane, Joseph Cross, Sam Troughton, Toby Leonard Moore, Tom Burke, and Tom Pelphrey. The movie is based on a script by Fincher’s late father, Jack, and tells the story screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz’s tumultuous development of the script for Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane.
