Walt Disney Records has released the digital soundtrack album for Pixar’s animated feature Soul. The album features both the film’s original score composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, Gone Girl, Mank), as well as the original jazz compositions and arrangements by Jon Batiste. Also included are the songs Rappin Ced performed by Daveed Diggs, Parting Ways performed by Cody ChesnuTT, as well as Batiste’s cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. As announced last week, the label is also releasing two separate vinyl editions featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score and Batiste’s jazz music today. Also being released separately today as a digital single is a duet version of It’s All Right by Batiste feat. Celeste (click here to stream/download the track). ‘Soul’ Jazz Album Details
The full details of the jazz album for Pixar’s animated movie Soul have been announced. The album features the original jazz compositions and arrangements from and inspired by the film by Grammy Award nominee Jon Batiste. Also included is his cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack will be released on vinyl on December 18 (visit Amazon to pre-order). A digital version featuring both the jazz tracks and Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross score, which is being released separately on vinyl, will be coming out on the same day. Soul is directed by Pete Docter and stars Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs. The movie follows a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town, when he is taken from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth.
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross to Score Pixar’s ‘Soul’
It was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo today that Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will be scoring Pixar Animation’s upcoming feature Soul. The film is directed by Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out, Monsters Inc.) and features the voices of Tina Fey, Jamie Foxx, Daveed Diggs, Phylicia Rashan and Questlove. The movie is being described as a “journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions.” Jon Batiste is also providing music for the film.
‘Inside Out’ Soundtrack Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for Pixar Animation’s Inside Out have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino (Lost, Star Trek, Tomorrowland, Jurassic World) who previously scored the studios’ features The Incredibles, Up, Ratatouille and Cars 2. The soundtrack will be released on June 16, 2015 by Walt Disney Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Inside Out is directed by Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.) and features the voice talent of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith.
Michael Giacchino to Score Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’
Michael Giacchino confirmed during the pre-concert conversation at the world premiere live-to-projection concert of Star Trek Into Darkness at the KKL Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he will be scoring Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Inside Out. The film is directed by Pete Doctor and features the voice talent of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith. The movie will be told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of an especially imaginative young girl. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) has written the screenplay. Jonas Rivera (Up) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously collaborated with Docter on the 2009 film Up, for which he received his first Academy Award.
