Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Soul, Gone Girl, Watchmen, Mank, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Leopold Ross (The Book of Eli, Earthquake Bird, Broken City) & Nick Chuba (Operation Varsity Blues) are scoring the new Peacock original series Dr. Death. The show is based on Wondery’s hit podcast and stars Joshua Jackson, Grace Gummer, AnnaSophia Robb, Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin. The drama is inspired by the true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a rising star in the Dallas medical community who was building a flourishing neurosurgery practice when everything suddenly changed when patients entered his operating room for complex but routine spinal surgeries and left permanently maimed or dead.

Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste were honored with the Academy Award for their score for Pixar’s Soul at tonight’s 93rd Oscar ceremony. Reznor & Ross have previously received their first Oscar for their music for 2010’s The Social Network and were also nominated this year for their music for David Fincher’s Mank. The composers previously received the Golden Globe, Critic’ Choice Award and BAFTA Award for their work on the animated movie. Check out their acceptance speech after the jump. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste were honored with their first Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from Pixar’s Soul. The other contenders in the category were Mychael Danna & Jeff Danna for Onward, Steven Price, Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield & Helen Park for Over the Moon, Mark Mothersbaugh, Alessia Cara, Jon Levine, Colton Fisher for The Willoughbys and Bruno Coulais for Wolfwalkers.

Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste have received their first BAFTA Award for their music for Pixar’s Soul in the Original Score category today at the Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony. Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Soul, Gone Girl, Mank), Leopold Ross (Triple 9, The Defiant Ones, Dispatches from Elsewhere) & Nick Chuba have composed the original score for the new Netflix original documentary Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal. The film is directed by Chris Smith (Fyre, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, Tiger King), written by Jon Karmen and examines the methods used by Rick Singer, the man at the center of the shocking 2019 college admissions scandal, to persuade his wealthy clients to cheat an educational system already designed to benefit the privileged. The movie uses innovative combination of interviews and narrative recreations of the FBI’s wiretapped conversations between Singer (portrayed by Matthew Modine) and his clients.

Reznor & Ross previously won the award in 2011 for their score for David Fincher’s The Social Network and were also nominated this year for their work on Fincher’s Mank. The other composers nominated in the category were Ludwig Göransson for Tenet, James Newton Howard for News of the World, Alexandre Desplat for The Midnight Sky and Emile Mosseri for Minari.

Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste have received their first SCL Award in the Outstanding Original Score in a Studio Film category for their music for Pixar’s Soul at tonight’s 2nd Annual Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards. The other composers nominated in the category were James Newton Howard (News of the World), Ludwig Göransson (Tenet), Terence Blanchard (Da 5 Bloods) and Reznor & Ross were also nominated for their score for Mank. In the Outstanding Original Song for Visual Media category, Savan Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus & Rickard Goransson were honored for their song Husavik from the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Carlos Rafael Rivera won the prize in the Outstanding Original Score for a Television Production category his score for the Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit.

Premiering on Wednesday, December 23 is the period drama Sylvie’s Love written and directed by Eugene Ashe and starring Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi Kin, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Jemima Kirke. The film’s original music is composed by Fabrice Lecomte. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Wednesday. The full album details will posted on this page within the next couple of days. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Premiering on Friday, December 25 is the animated feature Soul directed by Pete Docter and starring Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Mank) have composed the film’s original score and Jon Batiste has provided original jazz compositions and arrangements. Walt Disney Records has released a digital soundtrack featuring the score, the jazz music and the songs from the movie (click here for the full album details) and has also released two separate vinyl soundtracks featuring the score and Batiste’s jazz music (click here for more details). Soul will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
