Deadline is reporting that Moby has signed on to score the upcoming romance The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. The film is directed by Frederik Bond and stars Shia LaBeouf, Evan Rachel Wood, Mads Mikkelsen, Melissa Leo and Til Schweiger. Matt Drake (Project X) is writing the screenplay and Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine, Cold Mountain), Craig J. Flores (300) and William Horberg (The Talented Mr. Ripley) are producing the Volgate Productions and Bona Fide Productions film. The project marks Moby’s highest profile scoring assignment to date. Daniel Licht to Perform Music from ‘Dexter’ at Largo

It has been announced today that composer Daniel Licht will be performing selections of his original music for the Showtime hit series Dexter at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles on June 10, 2012. The concert will be introduced by actor Michael C. Hall. Also featured will be composer Rolfe Kent with performances of his Emmy-nominated main titles theme for Dexter and other scores. Other highlights include the premiere of Daniel’s music from the upcoming video game Silent Hill – Book of Memories performed by the Silent Hill series’ vocalist, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, as well as a number of surprise guest performances. Aaron Zigman has been hired to score Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection. The film is written and directed by Perry who also stars in the film alongside Eugene Levy, Doris Roberts, Tom Arnold, Denise Richards, Danielle Campbell, Devan Leos, Romeo, John Amos and Marla Gibbs. In the comedy, Levy plays a high level CFO at the center of a Ponzi scheme in New York City who is enrolled in the Witness Protection program along with his family in the one place that absolutely no one will think to look for them: Madea’s house down South. ‘On the Ice’ Soundtrack Announced

A soundtrack album for the indie drama On the Ice has been announced. The release features the original score from the film composed by iZLER (ABC’s hit show Revenge, Natural Selection). The soundtrack is coming out digitally on April 24, 2012 and will be available to download on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. On the Ice is written and directed by Andrew Okpeaha MacLean and was shot entirely on location in Barrow, Alaska. John Williams Performs ‘Fanfare for Fenway’

Last night, composer John Williams and the Boston Pops debuted the original piece Fanfare for Fenway as part of the Red Sox commemoration of their 100th year in Fenway Park. NESN.com has published a video from the performance conducted by Williams, which can be watched after the jump. As reported last month, the fanfare has also been recorded at Symphony Hall in Boston by musicians from the Boston Pops Orchestra in March and will be played throughout this year’s Baseball season at Fenway Park. Mark Sayfritz has signed on to score the comedic thriller Filth. The movie is written and directed by Jon S. Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots and Joanne Frogatt are co-starring in the film based on the novel by Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting).
