Mark Sayfritz has signed on to score the comedic thriller Filth. The movie is written and directed by Jon S. Baird (Green Street Hooligans, Cass) and stars James McAvoy as an Edinburgh police detective who is manipulating everyone who stands in his way of securing a job promotion and winning back his family and daughter. Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots and Joanne Frogatt are co-starring in the film based on the novel by Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting). Baird is also producing the thriller with Ken Marshall for Steel Mill Pictures, Judy Styler (Moon, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) & Celine Rattray (The Kids Are All Right) for Maven Pictures and Jens Meurer (The Last Station, Black Book) for Egoli Tossell Films. Safritz’s previous film scoring credits include the Jean-Claude Van Damme-starring action thriller Until Death and the recently released thriller Dark Tide directed by John Stockwell and starring Halle Berry. Filth is rumored to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Lionsgate is handling distribution rights in the UK, while no domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.
