Ilan Eshkeri is set to score the upcoming drama The Invisible Woman. The film marks the second directorial effort of Ralph Fiennes following last year’s Coriolanus, which also featured music by Eshkeri. The Invisible Woman stars Fiennes, Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Hollander. The film is based on Claire Tomalin’s biography of Nelly Ternan and details the story of the secret mistress with whom Charles Dickens had a decade-long relationship. Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady) has written the screenplay and Stewart Mackinnon (the upcoming Quartet), Gabrielle Tana (The Duchess, Coriolanus), Christian Baute (Funny Games) and Carolyn Marks Blackwood are producing the film. ‘Get the Gringo’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has revealed the details of the soundtrack album for the action film Get the Gringo. The album includes the original score from the movie composed by Antonio Pinto (City of God, Lord of War), as well as two songs by by Ten Years After and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. ‘Rock of Ages’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack release for the upcoming movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages have been revealed. The album features the film’s cover versions of classic rock songs by Guns N’Roses, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, Reo Speedwagon, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar and Twisted Sister performed by the film’s cast including Juliannne Hough, Diego Bonito, Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Malin Akerman. Adam Anders (Glee) serves as the film’s music executive producer and Matt Sullivan (Dreamgirls, Hairspray) is the project’s music supervisor. The soundtrack will be released on June 5, 2012 by WaterTower Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Thomas Newman has recently recorded the main titles theme, as well as the score for the pilot of the new HBO drama The Newsroom. Composer Alex Wurman is currently scoring the other episodes of the show’s first season. The series is created by Academy Award- and mutiple Emmy Award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West Wing) and stars Jeff Daniels as a cable news anchor and Emily Mortimer as his executive producer. Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn are co-starring. Pino Donaggio to Receive Lifetime Achievment Award at Ghent Film Festival

Pino Donaggio has been selected as the 12th recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the the closing-night gala of the World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 20, 2012. The composer is best known for his collaborations with director Brian De Palma, which include such films as Dressed to Kill, Carrie and Blow Out, as well as the upcoming drama Passion. Among the composer that were previously honored with the award are John Barry, Marvin Hamlisch, Giorgio Moroder and Angelo Badalamenti. In addition, the music of James Newton Howard will also be celebrated at the 12th World Soundtrack Awards gala. The composer whose credits include The Sixth Sense, Signs, King Kong, The Fugitive, Michael Clayton and The Hunger Games, as well as the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman and The Bourne Legacy was awarded as the Film Composer of the Year in 2008. Jack White to Score Gore Verbinski’s ‘The Lone Ranger’

Jack White has signed on to write, produce and perform the score for Walt Disney Pictures’ and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ upcoming western The Lone Ranger. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski and stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner and Barry Pepper. The movie is an adaptation of the popular 1950s TV series and tells the story of a masked crime fighter and his Native American sidekick. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) has written the screenplay with Terry Rossio & Ted Elliott (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mask of Zorro). The details of the soundtrack album for Walter Salles’ upcoming drama On the Road have been revealed. The album includes the original score from the film written by Academy Award-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel), as well as several songs featured in the movie by Coati Mundi, Ella Fitzgerald, Son House and Slim Gaillard. The soundtrack will be released overseas next month by Universal Music France. On the Road stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Alicia Braga, Danny Morgan and Elisabeth Moss. The film based on the 1957 novel by Jack Kerouac and produced by Francis Ford Coppola will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival next month and is also opening in France and a couple of other European countries in late May. According to The Playlist, Thomas Newman has been tapped to score Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming drama The Bitter Pill. The movie starring Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta Jones revolves around a young woman who is taking large amounts of prescription drugs to deal with anxiety and depression surrounding her husband’s upcoming release from prison. Scott Z. Burns (The Informant!, Contagion) has written the screenplay and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Transformers) and Gregory Jacobs (Contagion, Haywire) are producing the film. Newman has previously collaborated with Soderbergh on the Academy Award-nominated drama Erin Brockovich and 2006’s The Good German, for which the composer has received his eighth Oscar nomination.
