Walt Disney Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Pixar’s upcoming animated film Brave. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Patrick Doyle (Thor, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sense and Sensibility), as well as songs from Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis and a collaboration between Grammy Award-winning folk rock band Mumford and Sons who penned Learn Me Right sung by Birdy. The soundtrack will be released on June 19, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this site for audio clips. Brave is directed by Mark Andrews and tells the story of an impulsive princess who aims to shed her royal ties and become the world’s first great female archer. Dustin O’Halloran is reuniting with director Drake Doremus on his upcoming, currently untitled indie drama. They have previously worked together on last year’s Sundance hit Like Crazy starring Felicity Jones, Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawrence. Doremus’ new film stars Guy Pearce as a high school teacher who is tempted to cheat on his wife with one of his students. Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan, Mackenzie Davis and Nico Tortorella are co-starring. Doremus has co-written the screenplay with his Like Crazy writing partner Ben York Jones. Jonathan Schwartz (Douchebag, Like Crazy) and Andrea Sperling (Harsh Times) are producing through Super Crispy Entertainment and Steven Rales and Mark Roybal (Doubt, Shaft) are producing for Indian Paintbrush. Lakeshore Records will be releasing a score album for the upcoming indie comedy Lola Versus. The soundtrack features the original score from the film composed by Fall On Your Sword (Another Earth). The album will be released both digitally and physically on June 5, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Joel Goldsmith (1957-2012)

Joel Goldsmith has passed away at age 54. The composer was born on November 19, 1957. Throughout his career, he received three Emmy Award nominations for his music for the sci-fi hit shows Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, including a nod for the latter series’ main titles. His most prominent feature credit as a composer was the 1996 sci-fi movie Star Trek: First Contact, on which he collaborated with his father Jerry Goldsmith and which recently received an expanded CD release. His other feature film credits include Roland Emmerich’s Moon 44, the fantasy adventure Kull the Conqueror starring Kevin Sorbo and the Kirk Douglas-starring comedy Diamonds. Craig Wedren is writing the score for the new ABC comedy Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. The composer has taken over scoring duties on the show on the third episode, which aired this past Wednesday. The pilot featured music by Daniel Licht (Dexter), Erica Weis and Michael Cassady and the score in the second episode was credited to Weis and Orr Rebhun. The comedy’s title song All I Know is She’s a Bitch is written by Steve Hampton, John Adair & Brad Hamilton and performed by Katie Hampton. Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 is created by Nahnatchka Khan and stars Krysten Ritter, Dreama Walker and James Van Der Beek. The show follows a wide-eyed Midwestern girl who moves to New York City to pursue her dream job only to find herself living with an outlandish con artist and party girl. Maurizio De Angelis has scored the upcoming TV mini-series Titanic: Blood and Steel. The 12-part series is directed by Ciaran Donnelly (The Tudors) and stars Chris Noth, Neve Campbell, Derek Jacobi, Kevin Zegers, Ophelia Lovibond, Billy Carter, Massimo Ghini, Branwell Donaghey and Martin McCann. The show focuses on the the process of building the ship from the ground up and the people who made the ship a reality against the class-bound backdrop of Edwardian Belfast, Northern Ireland, where financial pressures led to fatal compromises. Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the Aardman Animation’s and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D stop-motion animated feature The Pirates! Band of Misfits directed by Peter Lord (Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run) & Jeff Newitt and featuring the voice talent of Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Imelda Staunton and David Tennant. The film’s score is composed by Theodore Shapiro. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music has been released earlier this week on Madison Gates Records and is available exclusively on iTunes. Also opening wide is the period thriller The Raven directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) and starring John Cusack, Alice Eve and Brendan Gleeson. The score for the film about the final days of Edgar Allan Poe is composed by Lucas Vidal. A soundtrack album featuring Vidal’s original music has been released by Relativity Music Group. ‘Touchback’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the football drama Touchback. The album features the film’s original score composed by William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Ladder 49). The music was recorded with a 55-piece orchestra at Air Studios in London. The soundtrack will be released on May 29, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Touchback is written and directed by Don Handfield and stars Kurt Russell, Brian Presley, Melanie Lynsky, Christine Lahti and Marc Blucas. Antonio Pinto has signed on to score the action thriller Snitch. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Felon) and stars Dwayne Johnson as a father who is forced to become an informant for the DEA to reduce his falsely accused son’s 10-year jail sentence. Susan Sarandon, Barry Pepper, Benjamin Bratt, Jon Bernthal, Harold Perrineau, Melina Kanakaredes, Michael Kenneth Williams, Rafi Gavron and Nadine Velazquez are co-starring. Waugh adapted the screenplay from an original script by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road). The track list of the soundtrack release for the upcoming sci-fi comedy sequel Men in Black 3 has been revealed. The album features the original score from the film composed by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack is currently scheduled to be released on CD on May 29, 2012 by Sony Masterworks and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below.
