Paul McCartney has composed the themes for the upcoming animated feature High in the Clouds. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter who was previously announced to contribute original songs to the film is also receiving credit for providing the themes to the score (presumably based on his songs) according to producer Nicolas Atlan who shared images from last week’s scoring sessions at Abbey Road Studios in London on social media. Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Star Trek, The Incredibles, The Batman, Ratatouille, Spider-Man: Far from Home, Jurassic World) has composed the score for the movie directed by Toby Genkel (The Amazing Maurice, Two by Two: Overboard!) and starring Himesh Patel, Celine Dion, Hannah Waddingham, McCartney himself, Lionel Richie, Ringo Starr, Idris Elba, Clémence Poésy, Jimmy Fallon, Pom Klementieff and Alain Chabat. The animated musical tells the story of a teenage squirrel who embarks on an extraordinary journey to set music free after he accidentally sparked a revolution against the bossy diva-owl who has banned all music from his town.

‘Paul McCartney: Man on the Run’ Soundtrack Album Details
Capitol Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Paul McCartney: Man on the Run. The album features many of the key recordings from the film, including deep cuts and fan favorites from McCartney’s post-Beatles career, as well as the previously unreleased tracks Live and Let Die (Rockshow), Gotta Sing Gotta Dance and Arrow Through Me (Rough Mix). Michael Giacchino to Score Toby Genkel’s ‘High in the Clouds’
Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Star Trek, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman, Jurassic World, The Incredibles) is attached to score the upcoming animated feature High in the Clouds. The film is directed by Toby Genkel (The Amazing Maurice, A Stork’s Journey) and will feature six original songs written by Paul McCartney who will also voice one of the main characters. The movie is based on McCartney’s children’s novel of the same title and follows the journey of a headstrong teenage squirrel who lives in a city where music has been banned by a diva-owl who wants to be the only singer in town and goes on a journey to bring music back to his town.
Paul McCartney to Write Original Songs for Timothy Reckart’s ‘High in the Clouds’
Netflix announced today that singer/songwriter Paul McCartney will be writing original songs for the animated movie High in the Clouds based on the popular children’s adventure novel of the same title by McCartney and Geoff Dunbar & Philip Ardagh. Timothy Reckart (The Star, Head Over Heels) is directing the film, which follows an imaginative teenage squirrel who finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds. Jon Croker (Paddington, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) is writing the screenplay.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the romantic drama The Lucky One based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, directed by Scott Hicks (Shine) and starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner. The film’s original score is written by Mark Isham. No score album has been announced yet, but WaterTower Music hss released a soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs by artists including Jules Larson, Correatown, Joshua Radin, Early Winters, Voxhaul Broadcast, A Fine Frenzy and Mayfield. Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Think Like a Man directed by Tim Story and starring Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Taraji P. Henson, Meagan Good, Gabrielle Union, Jerry Ferrara, Regina Hall, Terrence J. and Romany Malco. Christopher Lennertz has composed the film’s score. A soundtrack album featuring the comedy’s title song performed by Jennifer Hudson & Ne-Yo feat. Rick Ross, as well as other songs from and inspired by the film by artists including John Legend feat. ‘To the Arctic 3D’ to Feature Music by Paul McCartney and Steve Wood
Steve Wood has written the score for the upcoming IMAX documentary To the Arctic 3D. The movie is narrated by Meryl Streep and follows the lives of a mother polar bear and her twin seven-month-old cubs as they navigate the changing Arctic wilderness they call home. Two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Greg MacGillivray has directed the MacGillivray Freeman Films production, the company behind such IMAX hit films as Everest and The Living Sea. Wood is best known for scoring several movies from the production company, including the Oscar-nominated short Dolphins and Coral Reef Adventure. In addition to the score, the movie will also feature original songs by Paul McCartney who has written a number of songs for movies before, most recently for 2009’s Everybody’s Fine. He received his last Oscar nomination for the title song to Cameron Crowe’s 2001 film Vanilla Sky. To the Arctic 3D is scheduled for release on April 20, 2012 in IMAX theaters by Warner Bros.
