Mark Sayfritz to Score ‘Filth’

Mark Sayfritz has signed on to score the comedic thriller Filth. The movie is written and directed by Jon S. Baird (Green Street Hooligans, Cass) and stars James McAvoy as an Edinburgh police detective who is manipulating everyone who stands in his way of securing a job promotion and winning back his family and daughter. Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots and Joanne Frogatt are co-starring in the film based on the novel by Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting). Baird is also producing the thriller with Ken Marshall for Steel Mill Pictures, Judy Styler (Moon, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) & Celine Rattray (The Kids Are All Right) for Maven Pictures and Jens Meurer (The Last Station, Black Book) for Egoli Tossell Films.  Read the rest of this entry »

Artists’ Addiction Records will be releasing both the score and a soundtrack album for the upcoming comedy drama Girl in Progress. The score album features the original music from the film composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop). The album will be released digitally on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the score can be checked out below. Also scheduled to be released on the same day is a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including  Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos, Espinoza Paz, Queen Sea Big Shark and Beth Thornley. Madison Gate Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for Aardman Animation’s and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D stop-motion animated feature The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Theodore Shapiro (Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada) who makes his animated feature scoring debut on the film. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 24, 2012. UPDATE (June 2012): The album has also been released as an on demand CD-R on Amazon. Band of Misfits is directed by Peter Lord (Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run) & Jeff Newitt and features the voice talent of Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Imelda Staunton and David Tennant. According to Variety, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash is attached to score the indie horror thriller Nothing to Fear. The film marks the directorial debut of storyboard artist Anthony Leonardi III (Rango, 47 Ronin) and stars James Tupper, Anne Heche, Rebekah Brandes, Clancy Brown and Ethan Peck. The movie follows a family that moves to a small town seeking a better life, only to to run against a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. Slash is also producing the film with Rob Eric and Michael Williams (Session 9) through his Slasher Films production company. He has previously scored the comedy drama This Is Not a Movie starring Edward Furlong and Peter Coyote. He also has played guitar on a number of high profile film scores, such as Clint Mansell’s The Wrestler and Brian Tyler’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Anchor Bay has picked up domestic rights to Nothing to Fear. No release date has been announced yet.

Walter Murphy is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming live action & CG-animated comedy Ted. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane and stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale. The movie tells the story of a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) who came to life as the result of a childhood wish and has refused to leave his side ever since. MacFarlane has co-written the screenplay with Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild and is also producing the film with Scott Stuber (Role Models, Safe House), John Jacobs (Blades of Glory) and Jason Clark (Hotel for Dogs). Murphy has been working with MacFarlane over the last couple of years on the animated hit shows American Dad and Family Guy, for which the composer has received four Emmy Award nominations. ‘GCB’ Soundtrack Details

Elektra Nashville will be releasing a soundtrack album for the new ABC comedy drama series GCB. The album includes two songs performed by the show’s star Kristin Chenoweth, as well as other songs featured in the series’ first season by the country duo The JaneDear Girls, singer-actress Emily West, Brett Eldredge, Joanna Cotten, Billy Joe Shaver, Jaime Hanna, Rick Trevino, Elizabeth Cook, Jason McCoy, and Dean Alexander. None of Jeff Beal’s original score from the show is included. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips. Lorne Balfe has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Frozen Ground. The film is written and directed by Scott Walker and stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, Vanessa Hudgens, Radha Mitchell and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The movie centers on the investigation of notorious serial killer Robert Hansen who murdered as many as 21 women, kidnapping them and taking them out to the Alaskan wilderness to turn them loose and hunt them. Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans) are producing the thriller with Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) & Jane Fleming for Amber Entertainment. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for Paramount Pictures’ 1992 thriller Whispers in the Dark directed by Christopher Crowe and starring Annabella Sciorra, Alan Alda, Jill Clayburgh. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Academy Award-nominated composer Thomas Newman. To listen to audio clips and to order the CD, visit Intrada’s online store. The Playlist is reporting that Dan Boeckner will be scoring the upcoming comedy Adult World. The film is directed by Scott Coffey (Ellie Parker) and stars Emma Roberts as a recent college graduate with a degree in poetry who is forced to work in an erotic bookstore called Adult World to help pay off her debt. John Cusack, Evan Peters and Cloris Leachman are co-starring in the comedy. Andy Cochran has written the screenplay. Justin Nappi & Kevin Turen (Arbitrage) are producing for TreeHouse Pictures and Joy Gorman (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) is producing for Anonymous Content. Alex Goldstone and Manu Gargi (Ghost Rider: Spirit of the Vengeance) are also among the film’s producers. Boeckner is best known as the frontman of the indie rock bands Wolf Parade and Handsome Fur. Adult World would mark the singer/songwriter’s film scoring debut. The comedy is currently in post-production and no release date plans have been announced yet.

Following the announcement of the score album for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows a couple of weeks ago, the details for a separate soundtrack album featuring the film’s songs have been revealed. The album features a number of classic songs, including Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues, I’m Sick of You by Iggy Pop, Season of the Witch by Donovan, Top of the World by The Carpenters, You’re the First, My Last, My Everything by Barry White, Get It On by T.Rex and Alice Cooper’s No More Mr. Nice Guy and Ballad of Dwight Fry. Also featured on the album are two tracks of the original score by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 by WaterTower Music.
