Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1996 action thriller The Rock directed by Michael Bay and starring Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris, William Forsythe, Claire Forlani and Michael Biehn. The album features the complete original score from the Hollywood Pictures production composed and produced by Nick Glennie-Smith (The Man in the Iron Mask, We Were Soldiers, Secretariat), Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Dune, Gladiator) & Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian), including previously unreleased music, as well as alternate tracks and demos. The 2-CD set is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release, and will also be available to purchase on Amazon within the next days.

Nick Glennie-Smith’s ‘A Sound of Thunder’ Score to Be Released
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 2005 sci-fi adventure A Sound of Thunder directed by Peter Hyams (2010, Outland, The Presidio) and starring Edward Burns, Catherine McCormack, Ben Kingsley, Jemima Rooper and David Oyelowo. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Nick Glennie-Smith (The Rock, We Were Soldiers, The Man in the Iron Mask, Secretariat, Heaven Is for Real). The limited edition CD is now available for pre-order on Buysoundtrax.com, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full album details.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Transcendence directed by Wally Pfister and starring Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr. and Morgan Freeman. Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Little Miss Sunshine, Moneyball) has composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. ‘Heaven is for Real’ Score Album Details
Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama Heaven is for Real. The album features the film’s original music composed, arranged and conducted by Nick Glennie-Smith who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Randall Wallace on his previous three movies including The Man in the Iron Mask, We Were Soldiers and Secretariat. The composer and directed have also composed the original song You Are Home, which is featured on the album in three different versions. The soundtrack is being released digitally today on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. As previously reported, a separate soundtrack featuring songs inspired by the film is already available. Heaven is for Real starring Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilly, Connor Corum, Margo Martindale and Thomas Haden Church follows a real-life couple whose son claims to have visited Heaven during a near death experience.
Nick Glennie-Smith to Score Randall Wallace’s ‘Heaven Is for Real’
Nick Glennie-Smith is set to reunite with director Randall Wallace on his upcoming family drama Heaven Is for Real. The movie is based on the bestselling novel Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent and follows a boy who recounts tales from his visit to heaven after recovering from an emergency operation where he temporarily died. Greg Kinnear and Kelly Reilly star as the parents of the boy who is portrayed by newcomer Connor Corum. Margo Martindale and Thomas Haden Church are co-starring. Chris Parker (Vampire in Brooklyn, Battle of the Year) has adapted the material for the screen. Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) is producing the TriStar Pictures production, along with T.D. Jakes (Woman Thou Art Loosed, Sparkle) and Derrick Williams (Jumping the Broom). Glennie-Smith has previously scored all of Wallace’s directorial efforts, including The Man in the Iron Mask, We Were Soldiers and Disney’s Secretariat.
