Big Machine Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the ABC drama Nashville. The Music of Nashville – Season 2 – Vol. 2 will feature songs from the show performed by cast members including Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Clare Bowen, Will Chase, Jonathan Jackson, Aubrey Peeples, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy Stella. The soundtrack will be released on May 6, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album will be available as a standard version and a special deluxe edition featuring ten additional tracks will be available exclusively at Target. The label has previously released two soundtracks for the first season of the series and another soundtrack for the second season. Modern Distributors will release a soundtrack album for the horror comedy All Cheerleaders Die. The album features the songs from the film by artists including All Day, A Giant Dog, Sean Spillane, Shay Astar, Mini Death and more. Also included are four tracks by the movie’s composer Mads Heldtberg (You’re Next, Cheap Thrills). The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. All Cheerleaders Die is written and directed by Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson and stars Caitlin Stasey, Sianoa Smit-McPhee, Brooke Butler, Amanda Grace Cooper, Reanin Johannink and Tom Williamson. Premiering on Tuesday, April 29, is the new comedy Playing House created by Jessica St. Clair & Lennon Parham who also star in the series alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Jane Kaczmarek, Brad Morris, Zach Woods and Gerry Bednob. The show doesn’t feature an original score. Beth Urdang and Kerri Drootin are the music supervisors. Jeff Beal to Score CBS’ ‘Extant’

Jeff Beal has signed on to score the upcoming CBS sci-fi drama Extant. The show is created by Mickey Fisher and stars Halle Berry as an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Goran Visnjic, Pierce Gagnon, Hiroyuki Sanada, Camryn Manheim, Grace Gummer and Michael O’Neill are co-starring. Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Other Woman directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. Aaron Zigman (Bridge to Tarabithia, The Proposal) who previously collaborated with the directors on such movies as John Q, The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide this weekend is the horror thriller The Quiet Ones directed by John Pogue and starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Olivia Cooke. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Noizeby Slade and T.Rex and three original Radio Caroline jingles from the 70s. Sony Music will release a soundtrack album for the 3D-animated musical Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return. The album features the songs from the film written by Bryan Adams, Tift Merritt, Jim Vallance, Jim Dooley & Mike Himelstein and performed by the movie’s voice cast including Lea Michele, Martin Short, Hugh Dancy and Megan Hilty. The movie is based on the adventure books by Roger Stanton Baum, the great-grandson of L. Polydor will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Postman Pat: The Movie. The album features the songs from the film by the film’s voice cast including Ronan Keating who provides the title character’s singing voice and Rupert Grint. Also included is Peter Gabriel’s Big Time, The Saturdays’ cover of Please Mr Postman, Jessie J’s It’s My Party, The Wanted’s We Own the Night and more songs. Also featured is a suite from the movie’s original score composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Over the Hedge, Bee Movie). The soundtrack will be released in the UK on May 19, 2014. Postman Pat: The Movie is directed by Mike Disa (Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil) and also features the voices of Stephen Mangan, Jim Broadbent, Kate Winslet and David Tennant. Joseph Bishara is composing the music for the upcoming horror thriller Annabelle. The film is a spin-off of last year’s The Conjuring and stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard, Eric Ladin and Brian Howe. The movie is directed by John Leonetti (The Butterfly Effect 2) who served as the cinematographer on The Conjuring and explores the haunted doll Annabelle, which was featured in the hit horror film. Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the British action series Strike Back. The album features selections from the original score of show’s third and fourth season composed by Scott Shields. Also included is the show’s theme song Short Change Hero by the British rock group The Heavy. The soundtrack will be released on May 27, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Strike Back based on the novel of the same name by former Special Air Service (SAS) soldier Chris Ryan follows the actions of Section 20, a secretive branch of the British Defense Intelligence service (DI), which operate several high risk, priority missions throughout the globe.
