Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed today that Danny Elfman will be returning to score the upcoming fantasy adventure sequel Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. The film is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) and stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Rhys Ifans, Matt Lucas, Ed Speleer and Sacha Baron Cohen. The movie’s voice cast includes Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Paul Whitehouse and Barbara Windsor. The sequel revisits Lewis Carroll’s stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland – and back in Time. Linda Woolverton (Maleficent, The Lion King) has written the screenplay. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax original series The Knick. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Cliff Martinez (Drive, Spring Breakers, The Lincoln Lawyer) who has previously worked together with the director on such projects as Traffic, Solaris and Contagion. The soundtrack will be released on August 19, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The film is directed by Michael Almereyda and stars Milla Jovovich, Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Penn Badgley, Anton Yelchin, Ethan Hawke, John Leguizamo and Bill Pullman. The movie is a modern take on the Shakespeare play of the same title and portrays a battle between dirty cops and a drug-dealing biker gang set against the backdrop of a corruption-riddled 21st century America.
