Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

if-i-stayOpening in most theaters is the teen drama If I Stay directed by R.J. Cutler and starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Mireille Enos, Jamie Blackley, Joshua Leonard, Liana Liberato, Aisha Hinds and Stacy Keach. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Beverly Hills Chihahua). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Beck, The Orwells, Sonic Youth, Odessa, Willamette Stone, Ben Howard, Lucius, Tom Odell & more. sin-city-a-dame-to-kill-forAlso opening wide is Robert Rodriguez’s & Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and starring Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Ray Liotta, Josh Brolin, Powers Booth, Rosario Dawson, Stacy Keach and Lady GaGa. Robert Rodriguez has also composed the film’s music with Carl Thiel (Machete Kills, From Dusk Till Dawn). Morada Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the movie’s original score. top-fiveLudwig Göransson and Questlove have been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Top Five. The film is written and directed by Chris Rock who also stars in the movie alongside Rosario Dawson, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm and Michael Che. The movie tells the story of a New York City comedian-turned-film star whose unexpected encounter with a journalist forces him to confront both the career that made him famous and the life he left behind. Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Captain Phillips) is producing the project with Eli Bush. dolphin-tale-2Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the family drama Dolphin Tale 2. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Rachel Portman (EmmaThe Cider House RulesChocolatThe Manchurian Candidate). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 9, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips and the cover art. Also check out a video interview with Portman about her work on the film after the jump. Dolphin Tale 2 is written and directed by Charles Martin Smith and stars Harry Connick, Jr., Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Austin Stowell. craig-armstrongDirector Paul McGuigan announced on Twitter that Craig Armstrong will be composing the music for the upcoming horror thriller Frankenstein. The film based on a number of contemporary adaptations of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel of the same title stars Daniel Radcliffe as hunchback Igor and James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein. Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss are co-starring. No plot details have been announced yet. Max Landis (ChronicleAmerican Ultra) has written the screenplay and John Davis (PredatorI, Robot, WaterworldThe Blacklist) is producing the project for Davis Entertainment. Josh Kramon to Score ABC’s ‘Forever’

foreverJosh Kramon is scoring the upcoming ABC drama Forever. The show is created by Matthew Miller (Chuck, Human Target) and stars Ioan Gruffudd, Alana De La Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore and Judd Hirsch. The series follows New York City’s star medical examiner who studies the dead to solve criminal cases and the mystery of his own inexplicable immortality. Miller is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Jennifer Gwartz (Veronica Mars, Cupid) and Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Sherlock Holmes). howard-shoreHoward Shore has been chosen to receive the Maestro Award at this year’s Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference, which is being held November 5 and 6 at Universal Studios in Hollywood. The Academy Award-, Golden Globe- and Grammy-winning composer is best known for his music for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He also scored such films as The Silence of the LambsThe AviatorHugoMrs. DoubtfireBigPhiladelphiaThe Departed and Ed Wood. He is currently composing the music for the final installment in The Hobbit series The Battle of Five Armies. He recently also scored Jon Stewart’s directorial debut Rosewater, which will be released this fall and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, which premiered in May at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Adam Sandler, Kaitlyn Dever, Ansel Elgort, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, Elena Kampouris, Emma Thompson, J.K. Simmons and Dean Norris. The movie follows a group of teenagers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image, and their love lives. Reitman has co-written the screenplay with Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary, Chloe) based on a novel by Chad Kultgen. He is also producing the project with Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Labor Day). ‘The Song’ Soundtrack Announced

the-songCapitol Christian Music Group will release a soundtrack album for the music drama The Song. The album features the music from and inspired by the film, including 11 original songs and 3 new recordings from the motion picture. Artists featured on the release include Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris, The Byrds’ Roger McGuinn and NEEDTOBREATHE. The soundtrack will be released on September 16, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Song is written and directed by Richard Ramsey and stars Alan Powell of the group Anthem Lights, Caitlin Nicol-Thomas and Ali Faulkner. The movie is a modern-day adaptation of the life and writings of Solomon, as found in the Song of Solomon Ecclesiastes, and follows an aspiring singer-songwriter whose life and marriage suffer when the song he writes for his wife propels him to stardom. The film is co-written and directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine) and stars Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Francois Civil, Marion Lambert, Ali Marhyar, Cosme Castro and Hamidreza Javdan. The movie follows a team of explorers that ventures into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris and uncovers a dark secret. Thomas Tull (Godzilla, Pacific Rim, 42) is producing the Legendary Picturs production with Jon Jashni (Shopgirl), Drew Dowdle (Quarantine) and Patrick Aiello (The Double). The album features the jazz tracks from the film by artists including Bix Beiderbecke, Conal Fowkes, Leo Reisman & His Orchestra, Nat Shilkret, Ute Lemper, Al Bowlly, California Ramblers, Sidney DeParis and more. The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Magic in the Moonlight written and directed by Allen stars Colin Firth, Emma Stone, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Eileen Atkins, Simon McBurney and Jacki Weaver.
