george-fentonGeorge Fenton is reuniting with director Andy Tennant to score the upcoming comedy drama Wild Oats.  The film stars Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Lange, Demi Moore, Judd Hirsch, Matt Walsh and Billy Connolly. The movie follows a woman who receives an unexpected windfall check from a computer glitch and goes on the run from the law. Claudia Myers (Fort Bliss) and Gary Kanew have written the screenplay. Blythe Frank (Kettle of Fish) is producing the project for Wild Pictures, alongside Kip Konwiser for the Konwiser Brothers. the-scorpion-king-4Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the action adventure sequel The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power. The album features the film’s original music composed by Geoff Zanelli (DisturbiaHitmanMortdecaiThe Odd Life of Timothy Green). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 13, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. La-La Land Records has announced a physical version of the soundtrack to be released later this month. Check out audio clips after the jump. The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power is directed by Mike Elliott and stars Victor Webster, Lou Ferrigno, Roy “Big Country” Nelson, Royce Gracie and Don Wilson. The movie takes place after the king of Norvania is assassinated and follows the legendary Scorpion King Mathayus is framed for the crime and must fight off an entire kingdom of soldiers. The show stars Alexander Dreymon, Rutger Hauer, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Matthew Macfadyen, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thomas W. Gabrielsson, Peter Gantzler, Joseph Millson, Alexandre Willaume, Rune Temte and Henning Valin Jakobsen. The 8-parter based on Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling novels The Saxon Stories is set during the reign of Alfred the Great, who as King of Wessex fought off a Viking invasion and follows the son of a Saxon nobleman who is orphaned by the Vikings and then kidnapped and raised as one of their own. Stephen Butchard has adapted the material for the small screen. galavantPremiering tonight is the musical comedy Galavant created by Dan Fogelman and starring Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood. The show features original songs written by Alan Menken (Aladdin, The Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) and Glenn Slater. The series’ underscore is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Revolution, Supernatural). Hollywood Reords has already released three songs from the comedy. agent-carterPremiering on Tuesday, January 6, is Marvel Studio’s & ABC’s new series Agent Carter created by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and starring Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray. Christopher Lennertz (Identity ThiefHorrible Bosses, Hop) who previously scored the Marvel One-Shot short film of the same title is composing the show’s original music. The film is written by Bruce Morris (PocahontasHercules) and features the voices of David Henrie, Ashley Greene, Neal McDonough and Hector Elizondo. The movie follows a youngster who learns about sacrifice through the true story of Polish priest Maximilian Kolbe and the challenges he faced during the Nazi invasion of Poland in World War II. don-davisDon Davis is set to score the upcoming sci-fi thriller False Memory Syndrome. The film is directed by Fulvio Sestito and stars Peter Stormare, Jordan Hinson, Dee Wallace and Don Stark. The movie takes place during the shoot of a documentary to expose the lies of alien abductees and follows a provocative filmmaker and his crew who encounter a young woman with a dark secret, who leads them to uncover a disturbing truth. kurt-cobainJeff Danna is reteaming with director Brett Morgen on the upcoming documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. The film centers around Kurt Cobain, lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Nirvana, who remains an icon 20 years after his death. The movie follows Cobain’s life and his career with Nirvana through the lens of his home movies, recordings, artwork, photography, and journals. The documentary features interviews with his family and closest confidantes, including Courtney Love and Dave Grohl. woman-in-black-2The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the horror sequel The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death directed by Tom Harper and starring Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Phoebe Cox and Oaklee Pendergast. The film’s original music is composed by  Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z3:10 to Yuma) who previously scored the first part in the series, as well as Marcus Trumpp and Brandon Roberts. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week and a CD version is set to be released next week. a-most-violent-yearOpening in New York and Los Angeles this week before expanding nationwide later this month is the crime drama A Most Violent Year written and directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo and Albert Brooks. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s Alex Ebert who previously scored the director’s All is Lost has composed the film’s original music. Community Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the original song America for Me. The film is written and directed by Chloé Zhao and stars John Reddy, Jashaun St. John, Irene Bedard, Taysha Fuller, Travis Lone Hill and Eléonore Hendricks. The movie takes place at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and follows a brother and his younger sister, who find themselves on separate paths to rediscovering the meaning of home.
