Joey Stephens is reuniting with Jody Hill & Danny McBride and will compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series Vice Principals. The show is created by Hill and McBride who also stars in the comedy alongside Walter Goggins, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Georgia King, Busy Philipps, Shea Whigham and Sheaun McKinney. The series, which has been ordered for two seasons with 18 episodes, tells the story of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals. McBride and Hill are also executive producing the project with Stephanie Laing and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, All the Real Girls, George Washington) who also directed the pilot episode. Reza Safinia is composing the music for the upcoming dramatic comedy The Trust. The film is directed by Ben & Alex Brewer and stars Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, Jerry Lewis and Sky Ferreira. The movie revolves around two corrupt cops of the Las Vegas Police Department who discover a high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust and set in motion a plan to find the source of the money. Ben Brewer has also written the screenplay with Adam Hirsch. Molly Hassell (Edmond, Jackie & Ryan, Vamps) and Braxton Pope (The Canyons, Shrink) are producing the project. Ray Colcord (1949 – 2016)

Ray Colcord has passed away at age 66 in Los Angeles, CA. The composer has been scoring numerous movies and TV shows over the last three decades. He received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1991 for his main titles theme for NBC’s Singer & Sons. Colcord also composed the music for all seasons of Disney/ABC’s Dinosaurs and Boy Meets World and the CBS drama Promised Land. His other scoring credits include the classic Simpsons episode Dead Putting Society, episodes of The Facts of Life and Melissa & Joey and movies such as Heartwood, The King’s Guard and Wish Upon A Star. Michael Giacchino Wins Annie Award for ‘Inside Out’

Composer Michael Giacchino was honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from Pixar’s hit movie Inside Out. The composer accepted his award in person at the awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The other contenders in the category were Carter Burwell for Anomalisa, Kevin Riepl for Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem, Ruben Feffer, Gustavo Kurlat, GEM Grupo Experimental de Música & Emicida for Boy and the World and Mychael & Jeff Danna for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. The soundtrack will be reeled on March 4, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. They Will Have to Kill Us First is directed by Johanna Schwartz and centers on Malian music group Songhoy Blues and musicians Khaira Arby, Fadimata “Disco” Walet Oumar and Moussa Siditakes who were forced into hiding or exile in the aftermath of Islamic jihadists taking control of northern Mali in 2012. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the horror comedy Pride and Prejudice and Zombies directed by Burr Steers and starring Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, Bella Heathcote, Matt Smith, Charles Dance and Lena Headey. The film’s original music is composed by Fernando Velazquez (The Orphanage, The Impossible, Crimson Peak, Hercules). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the comedy Hail, Caesar! written and directed by Joel & Ethan Coen and starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Alden Ehrenreich and Channing Tatum. Carter Burwell who regularly works the directors has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the musical performances featured in the movie, including No Dames written by Henry Krieger & Willie Reale and performed by Tatum. Vince Pope Scoring BBC’s ‘Undercover’

Vince Pope is currently scoring the upcoming BBC mini-series Undercover. The 6-parter is created by Peter Moffat (Silk, Criminal Justice) and stars Sophie Okonedo, Adrian Lester and Dennis Haysbert. The political thriller follows a woman who is about to become the first black woman to hold the highest ranking public prosecutor role in England. Hilary Salmon (Silent Witness, London Spy) is executive producing the project and James Hawes (The Challenger Disaster, Enid) is directing the show. ‘Touched with Fire’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the indie drama Touched with Fire. The album features the film’s original score composed and produced by Paul Dalio who also directed the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 26, 2016 and physically on March 18. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Touched with Fire is written and directed by Dalio and stars Katie Holmes, Luke Kirby, Griffin Dunne, Christine Lahti and Bruce Altman. The movie executive produced by Spike Lee centers on two bipolar poets whose art is fueled by their emotional extremes. The drama premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival under the title Mania Days and will be released in select theaters on February 12 by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions.
