Quartet Records has announced a new 4-CD collection featuring the music from The Magnificent Seven feature film saga. The album features the original music from all four films in the series (1960’s The Magnificent Seven directed by John Sturges, Return of the Seven directed by Burt Kennedy, Guns of the Magnificent Seven directed by Paul Wendkos & 1972’s The Magnificent Seven Ride! directed by George McCowan) composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Escape, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Airplane, Far from Heaven, Animal House). Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Surf’s Up) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur) have composed the film’s original music. James Horner Revealed as Original Composer for ‘The Great Wall’
Simon Franglen revealed in a recent interview with Pop Culture Tonight that James Horner was contracted to score the upcoming fantasy epic The Great Wall before his death last summer. The job ultimately went to Ramin Djawadi who is composing the music for the film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Zhang Hanyu and Eddie Peng. Horner was also attached to score Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge and James Cameron’s Avatar sequels before he passed away.
